A person that use to sub back in the day said that their subs were lacking and it's put a stigma on them that they're crap subbers. But from what I can tell, their subs are basically fine. My advice? Pick a series or two you really think he'd like, get raws + subs, go through and make sure grammar, spelling, and punctuation are perfect, then burn him a DVD or Blu Ray box set. Make it quality as fuck. When he finishes Kindergarten or whenever the next big exciting event is after you know he can at least somewhat read, give it to him. It'll help him learn to read, he'll have fun with it, and he'll have a nice quality box set of SS, something people in this thread would kill for.

Yeah, and I really like that he wasn't a one-note goofball the whole time either. Whoever was in charge of the character development in Gekiranger did a good job, because the main 3 and the villains all had quite complex motivations, they're just so interesting (to me at least) compared to most other series. I especially like how childish/selfish/catlike Jan seems while at times he's the wisest of them all due to his wild upbringing, and just relies on reflexes and senses rather than thinking too hard like Retsu and Ran (who are also both interesting characters in their own rights).

And that's what Boukenger had. A bad plot. Three villainous factions (four kind of?) and none of them ever felt like an actual threat, merely inconveniences like they were traffic on the Boukengers' way to work. I guess that worked well to make the Boukengers look really strong and in control, but it just seemed pointless having that many enemy factions with seemingly different motivations and not developing them further than "red ones" "white ones" "blue ones" ("furry robot ones") and expecting the finales to mean something when we know barely anything about what they want. Hell, even the Ninninger villains were more memorable than the Boukenger ones.

I think making their threat too big would deviate the focus from searching Precious to destroying them. There were even a few monsters of the week not tied to the factions.

Generally, I liked how when they really became actual dangerous threats it was in the build up to their actual destruction.

I've got the mech, the changer, Go-Bus legend train, and the Applichanger. Honestly, the only thing that's kinda "eh" is the Applichanger since it doesn't read anything and only the buttons on the left side made any sounds. It's also crazy loud, one of the loudest toys I own as of now, however it was only like $10. The train that comes with it also doesn't have a back piece so it doesn't work on any of the mechs.

You can get the mech and the ToQ Changer for about $50-60 nowadays and it's definitely worth it in my opinion, and any extra DX trains that weren't part of the main crew are dirt cheap. We're talking $3-5 on Amazon cheap.

Man, I want the Safari set since it's a whole mech and it looks pretty nice. It's also super cheap for being a movie mech as well. Definitely see if you can grab some of the legend trains on Amazon. Like I said, they're dirt cheap, you can see the Go-Bus one on mine and I love it displayed with that one, and they give you free shipping above something like $25.

Only thing I hate about the OOO belt is you have to take it off the circle bit to get it to stand up flat, otherwise you kinda have to rest it on anything else.

This really isn't a good plan when it comes to Toku unless the series is airing as we speak. The prices tend to get pretty exorbitant(Like with movie mechs, a good example is the Go-Onger or Shinkenger ones, but especially Go-Onger), and collectibles can just kill your money. At one point I wanted all the Gokaiger stuff, but it's a huge money sink. My original Mobirates + Key set cost like $100 total shipped from Mandarake only a year after the series ended, getting even the DX Ranger Keys that came from retail sets is a pain(Boukenger and Hurricanger are the worst, but they're more common now for some reason), and then comes stuff like Gai's changer which I've seen like twice for under $60.

Kyoryuger is also one of the really expensive ones now. Everyone wanted the mechs and the toys and even candy toy battery sets are hitting $30 or so.

Diesel-Oh is like $60 complete on his own, and if you decide to buy it piecemeal then you're going to be paying like $20-30 for just Tank or Car Carrier.
Build Dai-Oh is about $70 starting all the way up to $110 I've seen.
Tei-Oh I saw as low as $40 with a high of about $80 a couple months after rlease, but keep in mind the shipping on that thing is going to be like $20 minimum just because of the size of it, not to mention how much the box holding it will weigh.

If you're looking for weapons then they're relatively cheap, around $20 each including Akira's weapon, and the only trouble you might have is finding Fire and Police on occasion since they seem harder to find than Diesel-Oh.
