Try any show you think is interesting and never listen to the anons that say x show is garbage because its better to see for yourself whether the it fits your taste or not rather than bandwagoning off of some random fucker's opinions.
you will either never get to see a show you could've potentially liked or feel like a huge dumbass for liking a show that you hated without watching it in the first place.

This is a good way to find what kind of mecha you like. If you want some newer stuff, Big O, Escaflowne, Tiger & Bunny and Full Metal Panic offer a different variety of mecha, although they are hardly iconic. The ones that anon listed are pretty much staples and show you the core of mecha.
