>>
>>14186502

I want to kiss Bogue until he relents.
>>
>>14186502
I couldn't care fucking less.
>>
>>14186502
I wonder if they were so tough if they encountered some rouge zentrandi fleet instead of humanity first
>>
>>14186542

You could actually. You could care little enough to tell anyone that you don't care. I'm not saying you do care about the show, but you care that people know you don't care. Which is a positive amount, however slight.
>>
>>14186502

> many

It was 3. That's hardly many.
>>
>>14186553
Informing someone you don't care about their thing is pretty backhanded, the only effort you are giving them is rubbing your neurons together to form a sentence.
>>
>>14186550
They'd just get var'd
>>
>>14186556
30 years is a pretty long time considering their lifespan also
>>
>>14186212
>So what's the difference from the Durandal? I don't see any tech readouts on the Percival.
>>
>>14186572

Yes, which is less than zero. So he could care less. And which was my only point.

>>14186576

They said many decades though. They didn't put it in terms if years or generations, but decades. And 3 isn't many regardless of your lifespan. Even then, it's still only one generation really.
>>
>>14186502
bottom screen looks like babby's first anime wallpaper shoop.
i'm having flashbacks of 2004, here.

it's like they don't even give a shit that the textures and rendering style on the cgi valks clashes completely with the anime background.
>>
>>14186626

Why would they? It's like complaining about cheap special effects. Everyone knows they could do better - most people don't care. And the staff are fine with the inconsistency if it allows production even if it's not their preference.
>>
>>14186626
Well I mean, it's not an actual screen, it's like a smoke thing in the middle of the sky
>>
>>14186612
>mass production model
>using YF designation
He's an idiot.
>>
>>14186637
It still looks like an 80's toy commercial because of the realistically textured models in front of an anime dude with only one level of shading.
>>14186633
So you're saying it's okay for it to look like shit because the animators are knowingly just shitting it out for people who don't care?
I don't even know how to respond to that.
I think I'm just going to move on to another thread now.
>>
>>14186703
>muh shading
Otaking go back to not knowing how to draw please.
>>
>>14186703
>I came to this thread just to shitpost
At least you're honest.
>>
>>14186703

Is it okay for something to have a budget and stick to it despite the wishes of individuals involved, especially when most people won't care? Why yes, yes it is.

Do most people care? Well you're the only one I've seen complain so I'd day they don't.

>>

He's also had one of his runes ripped off. Which seems to be equivalent to losing a testicle.

>>14186502
I got the feeling Freyja is sorta of like Minmay. Not really in love with the Protag but just wants to spread around culture.
>>
So they call their own galaxy the Brisingr galaxy, and ours the globular galaxy? Does this mean the Protoculture spanned multiple galaxies if species like the Ragnarians are Protoculture seeds? Which would mean that the Zentradi had to be too. And the Vajra too maybe? Is there only one colony/Queen per galaxy maybe?
>>
>>14186823
I don't see that happening.

Remember "if my rune shines with a flash WOWWOW WOWOWOW, I fall in love"
>>
>>14186872

does that mean borgue is crushin' on freyja?
>>
>>14186872

She's also spreading her excitement via her rune, so the reason Hayate funds flying with her so nice when she's singing is he's literally sharing her joy.
>>
>>14186881

Actually I think the runes have different colors, like how Freyja's turned blue. Bogue's was red which meant I though he was angry

Brisingr is what they're calling the globular cluster Delta's taken place in so far. A globular cluster is a collection of gas and stars, like a mini-galaxy that orbits a full galaxy.

So far, I think Protoculture and Zentraedi have been confined to the Milky Way and it's orbiting clusters. Seem to recall at the end of Frontier they say that the Vajra occasionally take off to mate with Vajra from other galaxies to evolve their immunities, and their mating call is fold-transmitting Aimo.
>>
>>14187347
>have not seen this show

>UN spacy(nuns name is fucking retarded)
Its an acronym for New UN Spacy.
>>
>>14187366
They're still called NUNS.
>>
>>14187331
What's the difference? Why isn't Chaos using that instead of a VF-25 knockoff?
>>
>>14187383

I figured NUNS are the military of the NUG
>>
>>14187331

Wasn't the Lucifer also given the YF designation by the UN Spacy?

What's the story behind the Perceval, apart from coming from an Earth production plant? As far as I can gather, only one -29B appears in M30 under Havamal, and the JP wikipedia doesn't say anything else either. Are they just making -29Bs on a limited basis and not for large-scale adoption?

I don't know. It's just some game exclusive thing, so it's technically not canon. It did get a figure though.
>>
>>14187370
Aren't they in the Large Magellanic Cloud given their position vis-a-vis the Milky Way?
>>
>>14186612
I don't know if there are specs for it but the percival has slightly different wings in game but it might just be boosters
>>
>>14187389

The 29 was pretty much a dedicated advanced Vajra counter unit wasn't it?

Makes more sense for standard fighters to continue the Evolution line than that, to me.
>>
>>14187397
The Lucifer is only designated YF because under New Unified Government regulations they don't have to disclose/share the tech-specs with the NUNS if it's experimental. I assume the same is true of Perceval, since it carries a lot of the Fold Crystal-based tech of Durandal.

What is the fighter that Chaos Ragna uses? VF-31 or something? Does it still use a gatling railgun instead of the beam guns that the VF-171EX, VF-27, and YF-29 all use?
>>
>>14187417
You also need Vajra corpses to make YF-29s.
>>
>>14187417
But it's got a ton of guns and flies good, and can go interstellar.

Because they aren't affiliated with SMS or NUNS. And the VF-31 is probably superior specs wise to the VF-25.
>>

Not quite. In the recent episode when the other Walkure members mention they could heard Heinz's singing, Hayate mentions he couldn't "hear" it but he could feel it. He was playing with his pendant while saying this so it practically confirms it's fold quartz he's wearing.
>>
So I've watched SDF, Plus and Zero before.
I kinda wanted to start Delta but I also wanted to finish the other main entries.
The problem is that 7 has so much fucking episodes (and additional shit) and Frontier is supposed to be the anniversary fanservice Macross with a lot of throwbacks to previous works. Can I just start Delta now and go back to watch 7 and then Frontier later?
>>
>>14187424
>VF-31 or something? Does it still use a gatling railgun instead of the beam guns that the VF-171EX, VF-27, and YF-29 all use?
It's the VF-31 Seigfried which was based off the YF-30 Cronos in Macross 30. It uses 2 mini-gatling gun mounted on each arm. Its "backpack" seems to be modular and can be interchanged with the standard energy gunpod with drone charger, radome dish (Chuck's model), missile pack (like the Cronos), and possibly a sound booster.

I thought the Magellanic Clouds were relative closer to us around the perimeter and that'd be more the direction of the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy, but it's been about a decade since I did much with real star maps so I might be misremembering. They also look too close in to the spiral arm on the two galactic maps we've been shown so far. That might just be artistic license, but they've also shown other clusters kinda far out relative up and down from the accretion disk...

So far all we have specifically is Spacebird Il Palazzo called it the "Brisingr Globular Cluster"

I have a confession /m/.

I hated the preview episode of Delta. I hated the magical girl idols thing. I hated the completely unlikable shithead brat MC. I thought Freyja was an annoying little cunt. I was fully expecting to fucking drop this show.

And now I'm actually really digging it. I'm so fucking glad I gave it a chance. The whole biological fold waves thing and "tech magical girl" stuff actually makes sense in Macross logic, Hayate is actually growing as a character in only a handful of episodes and not just a perpetual shithead, Freyja is an adorable little shit, I'm pretty happy with the world building, and the music is addictive.

Forgive me.

As far as I remember, the 25, 27 and 29 all build off the same basic YF-24 core design.

The 31 is just another in that design family. Being an evolution of the 25 makes the most sense, since that one was the general purpose fighter intended to be mass produced, while the 27 and 29 were both funky prototypes and/or super niche technology beds.

It's funny how you can take Chuck's comment about politics between planetary systems and make a joke about MUH BORDERS.
And the joke will only be funny until people start dying in droves.

On another note, I wonder what this super-dimensional weapon Winderemere used to score an armistice during their war for independence. Methinks it could be 2060s version of the Grand Cannon, or probably worse the Excalibur tower

You need fold crystal. And you also need it for ICS system, so pretty much every plane after VF-25 or second Evolution prototype has its frame bejeweled. Fold crystal do occur naturally from what I've read on forums and /m/ but Vajra accumulate it in their bodies, making collecting it easier. For values of easier.

Well this is one of those strange situations since NUNS/NUG seems kinda Balkanized

VF-25 was designed specifically by companies in the Frontier fleet off the YF-24 base, with the intention of it the fleets VF-171s. It was in production and active duty use by SMS and PMCs in advance of that.

It's plans and specs get disseminated back to the greater NUNS body for their use, if they choose to.
>>

>>
>>14188022
They existed. Sure, but Fold Quartz were never all that used until Frontier introduced them.

ISCs are inertial dampeners, but an inertial dampener is not necessarily an ISC.
ISCs as they are now did not exist until the YF-24.
>Although a replica Quimeliquola special inertia vector control system was equipped in the General Galaxy YF-21 variable fighter, inertia and acceleration were reduced by 10% or less. Due to cost and control problems, the system was not adopted in the VF-22 Sturmvogel II.
>Development continued, but the ISC prototype of the YF-24 was a large-sized model that was so massive (gross weight reached as high as 18 metric tons) it could not be accommodated in the fuselage. The system was also limited, able to store only up to 2G of acceleration for a 5-second interval.
>After the YF-24 plan was discontinued, the original Shinsei Industry research was progressed and an improved miniaturized ISC model was built that withstood a high G environment.
>Refinement continued in the VF-25 Messiah ISC/TO21 system to the point where acceleration on the cockpit could be reduced by 27.5G for up to 2 minutesand acceleration were reduced by 10% or less.
>>
>>14188047
Then ICS is humans own invention.
Neat.
>>
>>14188035
>>14188040
Basically, g-forces are constant independent of a body's location in space-time.
>>
>>14188035
just because there's no gravity pulling you down doesn't mean there's no g forces at all

imagine being in a car and taking a sharp turn, you feel a force pushing you to one side, those are G forces

car propulsion is generally limited to left and right or forward, so you feel G forces mostly from when you make turns and accelerate or brake.

same rules apply in space, it's not like because there's no gravity it means you can do all kinds of crazy movements and not feel any motion
>>
>>14188035
High acceleration or sharp change of directions (which is a kind of high acceleration)

I always thought the Spacy was colonizing empty worlds. So they just came to Ragna and Windermere and said 'Hello! We come in peace! Now give us a place to land our giant colony ship filled with thousands of aliens and reaction weapons, thank you'?

Now I wonder if some colony fleets put natives in reservations for 'their own protection'.
>>
>>14188363
Who would have guessed that Colony fleets would be a callback to Colonialism?
>>
>>14188363
We really don't know how they usually operate. Apparently the cluster the story's set in already was home to three sentinent species (Frogpeople, anglerfishmen and cat-people), but we saw two or three planets with none in Macross 7. And if Macross F's anything to go by, there could be colonies out there that decided that they're going to go fully conquistadtor on whatever native people they find.
>>
>>14188361
I want to stroke her rune that she's obviously hiding in that tuft of hair on top of her head.
>>
>>14188363
Well, after what happened to Earth, can you blame them?
And this isn't starfleet mah boy, no starfleet.
>>
>>14188376
It can be logically assumed that the colonial governments have a decent degree of autonomy in how they operate, being so far away from the central government and all.
>>
>>14188363

I'd always just assumed that a world could say no to a colony landing and setting up home, but they could still set up a relationship with the united government and join the bigger galactic community. Zola for example didn't seem colonized.

But the implication seems to be that the Windermere did allow them to set up shop, and the deal ended up going poorly for them. Ragna seems a pretty chill place in comparison.
>>
>>14188382
>I'd always just assumed that a world could say no to a colony landing and setting up home
That's a pretty idealist point of view. I'm sure that that might even be what they're supposed to do, but I doubt that's what always happens in practice. Delta is hinting pretty hard at good ol' Earth style Colonialism being an issue in the Macross universe.

>Ragna seems a pretty chill place in comparison.
Don't be surprised it's all a front and there's a revolt on Ragna later in the series.
>>
>>14188380
The restruturing of UNS into NUNS gave the colonies more authority in deciding what they want to do, so the colony that went to Winderemere probably had some assholes in charge that fucked it all up for their own benefits.
>>
>>14188378
Well, I guess after Space War there could be an undercurrent of 'fuck alien scum, we're humans!', but they also had aliens in their ranks, and Kawamori is a hippy. I don't know, I guess I find weird having POLITICS in my idol show with robot planes.

do you think the windermerian's had flight tech prior to the colonization fleet arriving? they seem a little on the underdeveloped side, but it could just be their shit climate. it would be a rash move for the macross fleet to just enter a planet's atmosphere, regardless of the technological difference, without scoping out whether or not the inhabitants might have weapons to 'make the first move' against what seems to be alien invaders.
>>
>>14188453
If the locals can harm them, chances are, they probably already can into space and would already have saw them coming even before they entered the atmosphere
>>
>>14188399
The Windermereans calling humanity the "false inheritors of the protoculture" could be a clue that after all these years of colonizing the galaxy and fighting various wars, maybe humanity got too big for their britches and have developed an ego believing themselves the galaxy's effective rulers.

The NUNS brand of Colonialism is probably more power and ego driven than resources and riches driven.

No, they'll need to fly those to get away from the NUNS forces chasing them. The public is then told that all VF-1EXes have been shot down. Unsurprisingly it is done over water, and no bodies are found from scouring the floating wreckage.

Nearly-outdated fighters, not completely outmatched fighters. What other modifications were applied to the -1EX other than the Ex-Gear and related AI support? As much as the -171 is the lowest mainline standard, the 1EX probably shouldn't be any better than it, assuming it even comes close at all.

It's kept the 25's anemic proportions. The Messiah at least had the excuse of being supposed to be deployed with an add-on pack of some sort, but we haven't seen the Siegfried's yet.
>>
>>14188774
Given that the Siegfried uses the retractable option pod of the 30, I really doubt it'll get much in the way of add-on packs that aren't just different option pods.
>>
>>14188781
It's a shame. Kawamori is just redesigning the Messiah at this point, this time by way of making it have sex with the YF-19. The only truly original design is the Drakken, and that's literally just a transforming version of its real life counterpart.
>>
>>14188760

Maybe they steal some of the VF-25s the NUNS reinforcements brought with them. It's got the swing-wing, at least, but the -25's well within being too capable even against the VF-31.

The original intent was that they'd just steal some "not-so-new fighters" to parallel Ace Combat 5's progression, I'm just mucking around with >>14188668's idea that they'll need some swing-wings with some airtime to complete the deal. The -1EXs, as poorly-armed trainers compared to everything else present, are more akin to the Hawks the Wardogs fly to escape from Sand Island rather than be the well-worn but trusted chariots they'll return in.

If Walkure getting set upon by the NUNS that were supposed to reinforce them really happened, Delta Platoon will probably break out from confinement in their quarters, distract a couple of guards with a mercat stampede, sneak into a NUNS-held Elysion, and retake their own VF-31s. As much as "It's Kawamori" I don't think he'd go as far as to bait-and-switch the characters' primary VFs. Or would he?
>>
>>14188790
>>14188773

I didn't like it at first either but I think it's because the blue doesn't do enough to break up all the white, and the head could be a lot more prominent. Otherwise it's not that bad.

I find that part of Roid's speech to be kind of hilarious.

> They come to our planet, and offer a treaty, but its super unequal!

Of course it is, numbnuts. Look around. They are a galaxy spanning situation that has consistently beaten back the Zentradi, Vajra, and Protodevlin. They have incorporated races into the alliance before you.

You are just some guys they found on a planet that had not even mastered space yet.

Why the FUCK would you think your civilizations are in any way equals? If the humans were less benevolent, That colony ship could have taken your entire planet by force and there is nothing you could have done to stop them.

Expecting the vastly superior power to treat your world with extra special attention and care is just wounded ego.
>>
>>14189203
Messer is just really stiff.
He has a point when he tells Hayate off, but he comes off as very stiff and uptight about it, which people in general don't like.
He doesn't seem to relax, at all. In that party with everyone there, he went back to base to standby.
Its clear he isn't a social person, but he also comes off as someone that is very hard to get along with as a person.

>beaten back the Zentradi,

>Vajra

>and Protodevlin.

>>
>>14189248

The real question is why.

Is it because he simply believes himself to be superior to others?

Or is he just unwilling to socialize with people he thinks could die on any mission, as a sort of defensive measure? Has he lost people before?

Or maybe he is just a massive stick in the mud.
>>
>>14189241
You have to add the religious point of view.
Their whole civilization raised in a planet full of ruins of an more powerful and ancient civilization, they probably through themselves as the choosen ones or some shit like that.
And then humans came and make them realize they are nothing of the short.

>>
>>14189241
Anon, humanity was pretty much eradicated at the hands of the Zentrans and Meltrans. Prolly much less than ten percent survived and they only ever got back on their feet by using their ally's tech.
Zentradi and Meltran probably still make up the bulk of NUNS MP forces, simply because there are so goddamn many of them around and it was the colony fleets who resolved the Vajira and Protodevilin-situation, not NUNS central.

Really, if the colonists that landed smack among the windimerians acted like dicks, they could because colonies had been doing so well at stopping intergalactic threats in the past first and foremost.

>figured out the winning strategy against the Zentradi
Yes, though they can easily Macross Cannon a zentradi fleet and mop up the survivors with reaction/MDE weaponry.

>now occupy the Vajra home planet
Only because they gave it to us.
In either TV or movie continuity, Island-1 was shot at with a massive attack that would have destroyed it, and the Vajra blocked that shot on both accounts.
Even if they won the battle, without Island-1's population and infrastructure to colonise the planet, it would ultimately be a loss to the human side.
>>
>>14189286

You know that, and I know that. But in-universe, the fact that it was a narrow or situational victory matters less than the fact that it was a victory.

The list of humanity's accomplishments by the time of Delta is absurd. Windemere was lucky enough to still have some protoculture ruins laying around their planet, but other than that they are nothing special.

There are also the shortest lived race by far. Humans can live 3 times their lifespan with proper medical care, and I honestly don't think we have ever seen a Zentradi that died of old age... ever.

I'm not sure why that'd really be a moral problem to be honest. The moral problem with using nukes is using them on civilians, the ecological problem is the thousands of years of contanimation. The UN Spacy normally uses them on military targets in space. Which means they don't have either of those problems.

The horrid part of Var is that it's turning people against their will to do your bidding. There isn't a non-morally icky use of that. It's always shitty.

I thought reaction weapons were supposed to be antimatter devices? So there wouldn't be any lingering radiation
>>
>>14189976
Sorta. Original concept was an equivalent to conventional nuclear, but called "reaction" to avoid a freakout over the 1980's taboo in Japan about nuclear weapons. Anti-Matter pair-annihilation became the canon operating mechanism of reaction weapons once Kawamori heard about it, for the same reason they didn't use 'nukes'. Plus, as he said in an interview, you can't have protestors get butthurt and come at you for having your protagonists use a weapon system that doesn't exist.

For lingering radiation, it's my understanding that it depends on what isotopes you use for the reaction. You always get a Gama radiation burst, but sometimes you get a lingering neutron radiation byproduct like you do with conventional nukes.
>>
>>14189269
OVA sidestory when?
>>
>>14189976
Not exactly. The amount of energy released by an anti-matter bomb would knock neutrons out of atoms, which should then induce radioactivity through Neutron decay. The amount of radiation will be less than the amount released from an equivalent yield nuclear device, but it still would have radiation.

So NUNS's European "we're more advanced than these other civilizations so it's ok to exploit them" style of colonialism leads to Windermere's "we're the destined people who will lead the plebs to freedom from their colonial chains with our superior ways" WWII era Japanese colonialism.

The moral of the story: Colonialism is bad.

Protoculture AI on Rax recognized Mylene as she is a hybrid. Humans were the first to start procreating with alien races. Windermere does not have one hybrid.

Protodevlin recognized Basara as Anima Spiritia. Anima Spritia were the ones who sealed them.

Wind Singers voices can travel faster than light and dimensions Basara,, Emilia, Sheryl and Ranka can do that.

Sara and Mao have Fold Receptor Factor as their tribe was allowed to have it by the Protoculture to reactivate the Bird Human and their tribe has genetic memory of the Protoculture's culture.

Protodevlin and Vajra became friendly to humanity.

The Russians, Israelis and Germans jointly developed the SV-51 as competition to the VF-0. They are part of the UNG. It just so happens some Russians defected to the Anti-UN thus getting specs for the SV-51.

> The SV-51 was jointly developed by Sukhoi, Israel Aircraft Industries and Dornier and progressed 1-2 years earlier than the VF-0 schedule (reaching a practical stage by the end of the UN War). The SV-51 is first combat-type variable fighter (VF) in history that members of the Anti-UN Alliance developed for combat against giant aliens. Like the VF-0 Phoenix of the U.N. Forces, the SV-51 was a developmental unit. However, the SV-51 was unlike the hastily combat-equipped VF-0 Phoenix in that the Anti-U.N. craft was considered for use in actual combat from the very beginning.

We would have lost right there since we had no idea what we were fighting, and we probably have shit tech compared to what they have.
>>
>>14191263
On the other hand, humans have also improved upon everything they got.

The macross cannon on the the SDF-1 is far weaker than the cannon battle class ships use. The pin-point barrier technique is the superior way to use the shields. The fold tech had trouble with fold faults, which are no longer an issue thanks to synthetic fold crystals. The only thing capable of actual planet busting (Dimension eaters) is as far as we know completely human made. Hell, they figured out how to not only control but merge with a completely alien species.

Meanwhile no other protoculture race has shown that level of resourcefulness. Even the Windmere are just using a relic wholesale, without learning how to adapt it.
