What were the things on their faces? Tattos, bandaids? They stuck around after the timeskip so probably tattoos which means they allowed kids to tattoo their faces. If it was bandaids this fashion trend stuck around for many years

I remember getting up early to watch it before my parents got up. They thought anime was too violent so I'd watch it sitting in front of the TV with the sound down low.

God that show kicked Pokemon's ass. Along with watching G Gundam after school it's probably why I'm into anime and mecha.

Opinions may vary which series is best, but is generally well-liked, especially for being so out-of-standard showing various animal mecha but never a humanoid (well, there is gorillas, but is still not human).

Also, nobody likes Fuzors. If you don't, its because you didn't watch it yet.

Now, we could use some Blu-ray rips for New Century and Genesis...

Each series has minor references to the last, IIRC the intention is that some variant of the last show happened at some point in some past, but honestly it's so minor that you should never worry about it. That said, production order is still best here mostly.

The original, creatively titled "Zoids" (American dub gave it the subname of Chaotic Century and Guardian Force, which you'll see used a lot) is pretty much just the best of them, it's a pretty solid story and is a great way to introduce yourself to the franchise.

New Century Zero is a rather different sort of show in that it's a tournament fighter, but it's not a terrible tournament show as far as they go (not the best one, but in no way the worst) and it's pretty solid overall.

Fuzors is terrible, terrible, terrible. The only reason to not skip Fuzors is if you want to spend a lot of time complaining about how bad Fuzors was. It also probably contributed to Zoids overall dying its slow and painful death, so fuck Fuzors with a rake made of smaller rakes.

Genesis is better than Fuzors, and is decent overall. Mind, it does have a few more issues than the first two shows (especially how it ends, it needed an episode or two more), but if you liked CC and NCZ, Genesis will probably go well with them.

(oh, and the references between them - The last fight in NCZ takes place on a very large Zoid which was in the last battle of the original show and there's a robot that MIGHT be one of the ones from the original show much later, Fuzors brings reference to the final fight in NCZ at one point, and the opening of Genesis shows a bunch of Fuzors Zoids and then goes "And then every Zoid got wiped out three thousand years ago", because even it knows to fuck Fuzors)

I didn't like Zero. It felt like shit was leading somewhere. There was this huge evil organization, there where plenty of rivals but in the end nothing much happened. There where no stakes or anything to invest in. It was certainly far far better than say Try but at the end it just kind of stopped with YOU ARE THE WINNER.

Where they planning on doing a season based on the S-rank that would resolved this?

Used to love Zoids as a kid. Still have a soft spot for them. Had no idea there were two more shows after CC and NCZ until just now though.

When they were airing down here we got New Century Zero first and then they aired Chaotic Century after. I only really caught 10 or so episodes from each and my memories consist mostly of organoids, Lina's Gunsniper and Liger Zero's frame changes. The latter of which being a concept I've been fond of ever since.

There was also a GBA game I played but I can't remember the exact title. Turn based, made up a party of six with cast members across the first two seasons with a protag who had his own organoid. It was pretty decent overall and I remember being really into it at the time.

So yeah. I'd say I'm alright with Zoids. Seeing an appearance in an SRW game would be awesome.

Zoids is what initially got me into mecha and buying models, so it's got a place in my heart for that reason.

Apparently the same group that tried to sub the original Zoids (and the first 10 episodes of those were restored, thanks to a anon here) also tried to sub /Zero, but got so far on only 2 episodes. And no, no idea where to get those besides a incomplete .rar torrent file.

Besides, a better solution maybe be to someone to rip and upload the Blu-rays, since all Zoids got those now, special editions Ligers included (except for Fuzors BD, because even the models didn't sold well for those).
