Koto kits are actually a normal price. It's just that Bandai's kits are very cheap. Bandai's kits are also far better engineered with better plastic quality than other makers.

This is why people get butthurt when they buy a Koto kit or something and they need more paint apps or the plastic is brittle and they go "not worth 4-8k yen lol." In reality Bandai spoils us.

In term of world of plastic model engineering, Bandai is kicking the shit out of everyone.
For the price though, I am not sure it is because they produced so many kits, Bandai can afford to be cheap on MSRP.
You can actually see other like Koto is stepping up their game. Some military model makers are now trying to go glueless. But it does not matter that much in the military model world that much as they worry about realistic detail above all else.
