Back when Frontier was airing IRL Ranka and Sheryl had numerous live concerts and even had a sold-out Budokan concert with composer Yoko Kanno.

It's not that Earth didn't want the outer colonies to get it. It was because General Galaxy basically shoved VF-11 internals into a simplified VF-17 airframe, and this was so much cheaper that a lot of out-lying colonies and unsettled migration fleets licensed the VF-171 from General Galaxy instead of the VF-19 from Shinsei Heavy Industries. The main NUN strategy is to use Ghosts as frontline combatants and reduce combat losses among manned fighters, and before the YF-24 was produced the NUN Spacy was considering switching to all-Ghost air forces.

Well, it IS the only VF where there's no explicit "camera-head, conventional wings" mook variant. -19F and onwards may be more stability-oriented than the -19A descendants, but they still have a distinct FSW profile.

Which does begs the question of why didn't he just do it, there can't be anything in VF design that screams "mook" more than a camera head. Even the VF-171 didn't have a mook head. It does have a more conventional silhouette thanks to that slightly longer nosecone, though not by much, considering that its profile is well-known as being Nighthawk-inspired.

Its weirder than that. Windemere has some kind of superdimensional barrier around the planet.

My guess is that it is something they found in the protoculture ruins. They used it in order to seal their planet off so the NUN couldn't land any more troops and declared independence. Its a whole planet, so its not like laying siege to it does anything. And, as far as we know, the NUN isn't especially aggressive about incorporating new races into the fold, they just haven't had anyone refuse so hard before.

So the NUN just sort of went 'fine, be that way' and left them alone, thinking that Windemere didn't have any choice but to stew on their shitty planet. If they ever made trouble beyond their world, they would be outside of the protection of their barrier and could get BTFO.

The Var weapon changes things. With that and their manifest destiny plan, Windemere can no longer be ignored.

Honestly, we got SUPER Lucky. Not only did we have an unexpected technological advantage in the form of alien tech that landed in our laps, but if you recall we hit that sonovabitch with 4 nukes, the birdman intentionally tanked it to contain the blast instead of shooting them down, and after that it was damaged but basically still functional.

If we got a Birdman that didn't have a sympathetic pilot on the inside, bringing it down would be a tremendous pain in the ass. The NUN could do it, but not before/without massive collateral damage.

I'm actually thinking that what's gonna happen is, now that Windermere has invaded other planets, the NUNS will mobilize their military against them, and Chaos will have to rush to try and find some kinda peaceful solution to this mess before the NUNS shows up and splits the planet in half.

And besides 7, which would have been a lot better in a two cours format instead of how long it dragged on, i liked them quite a bit. Especially Plus and Frontier (TV series, movies felt too packed and rushed)
