The whole story is this: Originally, during the Freeze Arc, Gou was supposed to lose his Mach Driver and Shift Deadheat who Banno reprograms (Secretly) for Brain to use. This was supposed to be the true reason why GolDrive was formed and evidence of it is clear from the dropped storyline of Krim Roidmude. During this time, Gou was to use the BrakeGunner as Mashin Chaser.

It was also planned to repackage the DX Mach Driver with Signal Chaser as well a bundle package of Signal Axe and BrakeGunner. Both were scrapped when it was clear the audience did not enjoy one of the heroes (as in the suit) acting evil.

Hey /krg/. Last thread, I hit you guys up to know what cheesy and over-the-top Kamen Rider series I should begin with, and by this point I have already watched five episodes of Fourze in a single day.

Holy fucking shit this is fun. I had no idea getting into this would be so amazing. The over-the-top acting, the writing, the terrible CG, the bright colors, it's all pulled off with such conviction. Are the other series this good, as well? Can I already get excited?

Fourze is probably he most over the top series. You'll probably enjoy most of the rest of phase 2. A lot of phase 1 heisei Riders were trying to be more serious though so dunno if you'll appreciate that less. Though there's some phase 1 stuff like Den-O that you'll definitely dig.

I actually hated Fourze for like 20 eps or something for being too different. Before I completely fell in love with it. So that might answer your question.

Kuuga was also the series it was returning on after a long franchise down time and the producer had the intention of going against expectations of what Kamen Rider is in places. And then there's Hibiki that for most of it probably couldn't be more different without just being a different genre.

At the moment, it's playing very safe with how "out-there" the shows work for safer toy sale returns. But also as of now, there's a Amazon Prime mini Rider series called Amazons which is airing which is basically the production company making a tokusatsu show without the chains of toy marketing binding them, so it's pretty refreshing in it's more dark tone.

Personally my favorite series are Fourze, Agito, Ryuki, Kabuto, Blade, W and OOO.

The current rider is dead and just made friends with the prince of hell. The one before him was a lazy cop who didn't even ride a goddamn motorcycle. The one before HIM was a samurai orange caught up in the apocalypse a pharmaceutical company accelerated. I'm rewatching one now where the main character thinks he's god and fights pod people by catching a bug that gives him super speed.

There are certain tropes that get reused over and over. there's definitely a formula to it, but of the all the riders I've seen (everything Blade onwards except Kiva and Hibiki), I've never thought "this series is just like this series but with this toy instead of this toy". As someone who prefers sentai, I'm used to very very formulaic eps/reused character archetypes/hell even whole episode plots, so rider is at least superior in that regard. Sentai has much better FRIENDSHIP though.
