Nozawa's okay, but it's not even about that, even though the Funi VAs were newbies back in 1999 and aren't anywhere as good as they are now. The only Dragon Ball I've seen in years is the Abridged version. I'm pretty sure it's the only one I'd have the patience for anymore, because watching clips of Super just makes me wish it'd cut out a lot of the extraneous stuff like slow pans and screaming to improve the pacing. I prefer their voices over the Japanese cast, but it's a minor point next to that

Yea, I've heard it brings back a lot of the fun and irreverence of Dragon Ball, which I much prefer over the grunting and laser battles of Z so I might give it a look at some point. Dragon Ball isn't that high on my priorities though to be honest.

The movies' rights were shared with a Western movie studio (Warner, maybe? I can't remember what it was). By doing this, they can now use something very similar to the movie plots without actually having to pay extra for them.

That part's just incorrect.
The government said that if the comics industry didn't self-regulate that they would impose regulations. The CCA was a voluntary thing created by the comic publishers, not an imposed government regulation. Some comics just avoided the whole thing by switching to magazine format (Conan, for example). And the CCA is pretty much irrelevant now anyway. Marvel has the "Max" imprint with nudity, profanity, gore, adult situations, etc. Not to mention trash like Bomb Queen, Nemesis, and Crossed which are FAR worse than the old horror comics that led to the CCA's creation.
