Bow/sword version came out years before normal red frame due to that being the prominent/popular version from the most current Astray manga and there was already a 1/100 NG normal red frame released so they put out the upgrade.

As far as the MG kits go? Nope. they share ZERO parts and have fairly different engineering (The type C was made later and as a couple of engineering improvements as a result). Even their bullpup rifles are different (The Quel rifle is just 2 pieces for the body and two smaller pieces for the magazine while the type C rifle is built to be modular so you can swap out parts for different gun configurations).

My mistake anon, I got the Type-C mixed up with the GM Custom which is just the Custom with some new parts.

2002 kits aren't THAT bad so the Powered GM should be reasonably good, might need some mods here and there but it'll be solid at least.

I have the MG type C. Other than the leg frame and the pilot block, it's basically a big HG. The HGUC is actually BETTER than it in a lot of ways, but the modular rifle gimmick is cool and articulation is fine for its age. It makes a good base kit for practicing customization and scribing on. Wish it came with the Bazooka though.
