Metal Hero was doing fine before Kuuga, often better than sentai. Kuuga was made because the autistic adult fanbase never stopped asking for new riders and Toei execs thought "why not? we haven't made a rider show in a long, long time". The problem is Kuuga and Agito did too damn well, even better than many Showa riders. The deal breaker was that Bandai wanted Ryuki to be a rider because the brand recognition could increase to the toys sales.

Ryuki wasn't a Metal Hero revival, it was just going back to business after a 2 years hiatus.

The way the story moves after we escaped toy hell. Ghost plays around with the multi parter stories while having a longer plot running continously across them all and keeps going back to it's previous plot points since Alain became Necrom.

It's sort of like Gaim in trying to follow the style of the shows from early Heisei but where as Gaim took that style and applied a "darker" tone compared to the few shows before it Ghost takes that style and keeps the tone the Phase 2 Heisei shows have been dealing with.

The suits are nice and simple which allows for better action scenes which Ghost have been doing some cool things with, the cinematography have been very fun to watch. The entire fight between the three Riders when Makoto comes back is a lot of fun to watch.

Most of the cast is nice and plays off well with each other when they get the chance, and speaking of the cast it's also very nice how much of the story progression is carried by them and not just the Riders doing things with their extras tagging along.

The varied OST also helps a lot with Ghost, Specter and Necrom all having very distinct music. Like Boost's bgm from its debut, Specter's "Why isn't this an insert song" bgm and Necrom's synth style.
