How's the show? Is it a faithful adaptation? Is it any good?

It's pretty good. Most stories were adapted from the manga. R&B is a really great episode. The final arc is all original, though. And it took inspiration from other Ishinomori's work called The Big Invasion. If you liked the Cyborg 009 2001 series and Kikaider, there's no reason to not watch this. But keep in mind it's a little more episodic than those, even if there's more of a overreaching plot than in the manga.
