I don't hate Evangelion itself, but I do wordfilter "deconstruction". I don't really hate any show like that, honestly, just a few of the fandoms. Mostly just Eva, G-Reco, and Super Robot Wars. Not even all or most of the SRW fanbase, though, just the people who try and use it as leverage to win arguments about Turn A or Destiny. It's understandable that the games will get brought up in discussion of nearly every show since the whole schtick is that they include a shitload of different franchises in the games, but don't act like the story in the game has anything to do with discussion of the show. I once even saw a guy freely admit that he'd never even watched Destiny but claimed that he knew it had no redeeming qualities whatsoever because he didn't like the Destiny-based stages on one SRW game.

Evangelion is an amazing work of art, and very little in the realm of mecha or anime in general surpasses it. It might seem overrated, but in reality it's underrated. I don't care for Eva because it's basically just Mazinger Z + Hideaki Anno's depression simulator. I watched it once to say I did, and I enjoy discussing it, but the show itself is not all that enjoyable. The characters are all miserable both literally and figuratively, their problems are all caused by their own various forms of autism, which makes it difficult to feel sorry for any of them, and the action is nothing special. I'd rather watch Mazinger Z without the Anno depression.

Mobile Suit Gundam, I can acknowledge its influence but on its own it's just a terrible show. The animation and action sequences are repetitive and boring, the overal visual direction is plain and uninspired. Sadly, Tomino barely ever got much better. The fight scenes and drama feels forced to the point of being comical at times and the characters are annoying. The only mildly interesting and entertaining character - Char Aznable has the most retardeed design that makes it really hard to treat him seriously. It doesn't have any intelectual, emotional or visual impact most of the time, and when it does it's negative. It doesn't have any entertainment value as well being badly paced and basically boring.

At least the Zakus look cool.

Gundam SEED Destiny being the prime example for the squandered potential. Despite starting out liking it, the latter half cooled my enthusiasm towards it and as I watched more /m/ series and generally grew up, I found that I actually began to dislike it. I used to be able to spend afternoons talking about it to friends. Surprisingly, sometimes I found myself on the defending side.

I don't think I have a "hated" show, /m/ or no. "Felt disappointed in" for some time, maybe, but if you're asking for a for-all-time example, I have none to offer.

It's only in interviews made by westerners that you see people over-obsessing about the religious elements. It's ok to be baffled by the setting and lore of evangelion and it's inspirations with judeo-christian religions in its creation. After all it does create a striking effect, especially the more we see those at first seemingly mystical elements being revealed as more obscure but afterall grounded in reality which can be interpreted via science and analysis. But if you can't look at this and also realized that the central thematic point of Evangelion is escapism and human relations then it's your fault not the shows.

They also have made two pretty big online databases for the show and expanded the wiki entries on the subject of the show. They have also created a number of fan art works and helped popularize their favorite series.
