Medarot!!!

Thanks once again, SquareAnon. This may be a bit premature, but have you decided on which of the next three prospective projects (Beyblade, Lets & Go and 90s Red Baron) will you star with?
>>
>>14123964
Not yet, actually.
I think that after Medarot is done, I'll sit down and take a look at all the possible candidates, check out the resoures that might help me with the subs (like related wikias, dubs, etc) and make my choice.

Dear Kind Sir, I and many more would be delighted if you would make a subs for Bakusu Let's & Go. I would even SEND on my cost a package with Mini4WD for you (I see that you are from Italy, I am from Poland so it will not be a problem for me). I don't know if anyone cares but since I've got no one to talk about Medarot with, some insights about the fifth game so far.

Characters are really charming, almost on par with the original cast. Koishimaru is no Ikki but he's very likeable too. Gameplay took a hit though, I'd argue it's the least fun to play out of the first five games, maybe besides the first Medarot. Also, designs are pretty shitty and alien looking. It's not shin-gata tier but it's still pretty bad compared to the previous designs.

>>14134494
Already said it before, but if you've got some free time you should play the games. Also, good job man.

First game is harder to get into than the rest of the series. Wonderswan version is better since the sprites actually look good and there are character portraits. No colors but who needs 'em.

>>14135689
Yep. I'm working my way through the series in order of release so I've still got the PS1 game, the GBA games and the Gamecube game first. Not sure I plan on beating all of them, especially the GBA game that appears to be an SRPG.

Also, skipping the remakes for now, might replay them in the future. (Fuck shingata though).

It feels pretty old, yeah I still enjoy it more than Pokemon Red and Blue though honestly. I look forward to trying out the ones after it.

1-4 the series just improves more and more with each game. Well, gameplay wise. Each new game adds new features and tries to change the balance.

Also, don't be afraid to use a guide to finding all the medals. Some of the missables in Medarot 1 and the series in general are cryptic as hell.
>>
>>14135824
I am. I definitely am. I really enjoy how the parts don't give really seem to give tangible upgrades, just better things for different situations. It lets me play meda-fashion a bit more.

Games are very hard to translate. Unless we can get a team together, one that requires skills way different than that of a subbing group, that's a no. There is a translation for the first game that may or may not have stopped, their last update was last July iirc.
>>
>>14123671
Thanks but I think I'll wait until the batch of the whole series is done. Hopefully any errors will also be fixed by then. I know Spirits is considered shit but for completion's sake is that ever going to be done or has another group already taken care of it? The English dub's voice work is pretty bad so I'd like to see if the Japanese version is any better.

>I am. I definitely am. I really enjoy how the parts don't give really seem to give tangible upgrades, just better things for different situations. It lets me play meda-fashion a bit more.
Yeah, the amount of viable tactics and different solutions to different enemies is great. I found that up until now I didn't change my strategy too much and it worked across most games.

Heads up for the later games, don't focus too much on just one team or you might have a hard time with some of the bosses. You have nine tinpets for a reason.
>>
>>14135722
Medarot Navi for GBA is a great game, something like Fire Emblem or SRW with a lot of nice medabots and even nicer chicks
>>
>>14135722

I just can't digest SRPGs. It's the one genre I always tried getting into but just couldn't. That includes SRW and FE. I'm hoping the Medarot twist might make it easier for me. Plus some of the designs I've seen looks pretty good, if not typical to the franchise.

>>14139264
I've got an .iso of Medarot Brave (Infinity in US, I think). I'm going to play it as soon as get to it by order of release. I'm looking forward to it since I too really like the Gamecube but I don't know much about the game itself.

Assuming the threads last long enough for me to voice my opinion on it, I'm sure I will.

Kind Sir, don't Post Sgt. Frog. I am fan of if it too. And it is not a problem, I am not tring to bribe you (yes, even If I am a Slav) just sharing a hobby (that I get cheap from Suruga-ya). ANd you will understand the construction of those Mini4wd cars. They are really easy to build and quite cheap (I don't buy the CARBON parts, they cost an arm and leg). I am sending gfts as thanks to people I respect (and gives me an topic to write about with that person when I am sitting in office for 8h doing mostly nothing). So I would be PLEASED if you would allow me to send this small gift as a sign of respect and to help you with working on a translation project for a series that I GREATLY crave for.

And thank you for your hard work with Medarot (I have few Japanese GBC Medarot games too xD)

So, I just beat Medarot 5. My impressions of it were pretty much the same as most people who played it. Story is half-way baked, and the games ends quickly, as if they were about to can the whole project out of the blue. Final Boss is HARD, notoriously so. I even used cheats and it was still hard to beat him.

Cast is charming and some of the designs are alright. All in all it's a pretty disappointing game, though it had a lot of promise thanks to the cast.

Next stop is Medarot R I think.

It's not that I didn't enjoy it, it's that it was a step back from the previous games and that it was released too early for it's own sake.

R actually released earlier than 3 but I wanted to finish the GBC games first. I'm expecting it to be slow and lack some of the changes from 3&4. If I won't like it too much I'll just move to the next one on my list which is Medarot Navi. Fun fact but Navi actually released BEFORE Medarot 5, which might be one of the reasons it was rushed. Probably going to post initial opinion in an hour or two.

It's neat to see bosses returning.

Now that the serie is over, I can safely claim that Medarot is an incredible show.
Almost everything from it is close to perfect.
The cast is big with a lot of interesting characters. They never forget about them and can bring them back at any point, fleshing out the world a little more each time.
World building itself is pretty good and so is the scale of the story starting humble and slowly expanding.
The designs for both the characters and the medarots are ace: a mix of clasic and modern and in my opinion a timeless success. The lines and shading are very simple but dynamic, allowing the animation to be constant and lively.

If I had to to nitpick and look for flaws I'd say that most of the fight are a tad too repetitive, with metabee getting hits until Ikki finds the weakspot and finish it in one hit. The medaforce sure din't help to add diversity.
That might seems like a big problem for a mecha show about robots fighting but honeslty it will be the least of your concerns once you're getting into it, since eveything else is so great. Moreover said fight are rather shorts so it isn't really jarring, the build-up and interactions between the characters are the real soul of this show.

It's amazing that an adaptation of a video game can be so good.

I'm sad this is the end, I wanted to see much more. Some of those secondary characters were just begging for more attention, and in this case it was really noticeable because the show did gave spotlight to some of them.
WHAT HAPPENED TO DOG?

Thanks to everyone involved in the subbing and releasing of this show. To think that barely a year ago, I thought that Medarot getting subs was a fool dream.
>>

So can you race with those cars or is it display only.
Do you have to build a track just like the anime?
Do you race with other manchildren?

Welp, just found out it hasn't been subbed either. I guess I'll add it to the list.

I'm afraid the Red Baron dream is dead, since it seems the RAWs are impossible to find (for free at least).
I'm sorry, anon-who-wanted-Red-Baron-subbed.

B-bro S1 Beak Spider Zebra and AR Aero Avante were my first kits
Bandai Geki Drive and Bakuseed look more "futuristic". Dangun Racers are model kits build on Mini4wd parts, but suited for fighting race. Based on vehicles build to break land speed record but with added special "umph" to fight with other machines on track

>ITASHA
Itasha (痛車?, literally "painful car") is a Japanese term for a fashion of individuals decorating the bodies of their cars with fictional characters of anime, manga, or video games (especially bishōjo game or eroge). These characters are predominantly "cute" females. The decorations usually involve paint schemes and stickers. Automobiles are called itasha, while similar motorcycles and bicycles are called itansha (痛単車?) and itachari (痛チャリ?), respectively.

And thanks again to you and your team for subbing Medarot, it helps immensely in spreading the word on this awesome franchise

Reporting back after checking out the first episodes of BeyBlade, Let's and Go and Medarot Damashii.
Beyblade seems pretty easy language-wise.
Same with Let's and Go, although I did notice a couple of technical terms I didn't understand but I guess the links Ranalcu provided will help with that.

As for Medarot Damashii, to be honest I didn't like what I saw, at all except the ending song (which is weird in itself, seriously where the fuck is Karin and why is Ikki apparently in love with this Nae (pic related, spoilered for lewd)? well I can see why but still).
They changed a lot of the things that made the show special:
>Mr. Uruchi is nowhere to be seen
>Ikki now needs a Medarotch even though he and Metabee kept saying they didn't need one because they communicated with their spirits
>Ikki replaces his old Metabee Body for a new one for no reason (except that Nae is giving it to him)
>Metabee transforms into a car/bike (and into a cannon)
>no seriously, Metabee transforms, what the fuck is up with that
>Kouji and Karin, Hikaru, the professor disappeared
So yeah, sorry for all those who wanted to see this show subbed but I don't think it's going to happen any time soon. Not by this group at least.

In conclusion, I think I will go ahead and start subbing Let's and Go next week. I'm also considering subbing both Beyblade and Let's and Go alternating between the two series (so one Byblade ep, then a Let's and Go one etc.) but that would mean that each series would take twice as long to finish.
What do you think? Should I also post this on the /m/subs forum?
>>
>>14177117
Fuck I forgot to spoiler the pic. Oh well.
Oh and another thing I didn't like about Damashii: the animation quality has dropped, I saw a lot of inconsistent character designs.

>>14176613
No, thank you for the links.
Oh and, I saw your mail. Again, I really really appriciate your offer and I will think about it.
>>
>>14177117
Honestly it's up to you.
If you fear you might lose motivation on a single serie, alternate.
However if you feel like you can make it with no problem, just pick what you want to do the most.
I'm interested in both so whatever happens I'll be happy.
>>
>>14177156
Thanks. Actually it's more like, I want to sub both series really bad, so I can't wait to finish one before starting the other.

In any case, from this summer I'l have to seriously get to working on my thesis so I may have to slow down the pace with the subs.
But as I said in the past, we'll see.

Seriosly, just look at this
It roughly translates to: Ikki finally realized he was in love with Nae-san
What the fuck, you fucking cheater
The whole ending is about Ikki and his crush on Nae
>>
>>14177117
Welcome to Damashii.

I don't hate it, but it's missing most of what made the first season so great.

The last one and the complete batch, I don't know because our editor is busy these days.
>>
>>14177177
How about susbstituting this for now with either Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden, the Break-Age OVA, Daigunder (if Subdivers doesn't pick it up) or pic-related? Should be slightly less insulting, at the least.

Welcome to Medarot 3, like 80% of the bots have transformations now. Metabee Mk II is cool in my book though.

Personally, Medabots Damashii, outside of the opening, isn't worth the fucking time. It's fucking awful.

What happened is that Medabots went from Bee Train to Production I.G. and they decided "hey, it's just some dumb show about kids and robots, we don't have to fucking try!" and well, so they fucking didn't. You remember all those shots where Medabots would suddenly kick up the animation quality, like the fight on the bridge, or against the mummy medabots in the tournament? That's the least of your problems.

Pretty much everything that made Medabots work as a show, what really made it stand out, they just up and go rid of it. The entire plot of the show wouldn't work if the Select Corp was around, so out they fucking go. Here's some horseshit excuse to write out the Medaforce from the start! I don't even think that Ikki's parents show up anymore.

Go look up Medabots Damashii on Google in Japanese. The auto-complete will bring up two things. 謝罪 & 黒歴史. Apology and Black History. Yeah, it was so bad, someone apologized for it being so poor, and people discuss about how crap it is. Not even GSD brings up results with those two terms.

The worst part for me is that Saikachis is actually one of my favorite KBT designs. Nothing great with it really happens in the series.

Is the Medarot 3 manga any better? Surely Rin Horuma must have done things more justice.

You have GBC Medarot games (yet could not grab the 1/6 Kotobukiya Cyandog)
You have GBC and GBA B-daman games (and few model kits/toys)
You have GBC Mini4WD games (and a room full of kits)

And then you remember that you HAD to watch all Medarot Damashii with really, really mixed feelings. Then all those Jap B-daman/Bomberman rpg games that are filled with Moon Runes Magic are catching dust. All those Mini4WD that you gave your friends and nobody besides them know about those model kits here in Poland...
>>14177145
Thank you. If you need any info please ask. I will gladly help. For me your work is equal to seeing something greaton kickstarter, so I would gladly help (not in money per see but by sending items from this series) for you so I and many, many more people can get that precious gem
>>
>>14179870
Also I have GBA and PSX Beyblade games (and few Japanese classic plastic one that you have to nipp from sprue like any other model kit)

So any chance that I would see a series that I like with english subs then that makes me a really happy /m/an.
