For one of the first "evil" Gundams, it has a pretty distinctive look despite keeping the "good guy" white, red, blue, and yellow color scheme.

I really like the head design.

It was until I found out about Ex-S.

GP02 is still my #2 favorite design that gets any sufficient screentime.

Not exactly, though. Look at it next to the GP01 and it's obvious that the colors are slightly off to make it look more evil.
>>
Favorite? No.
Deserving of the hate? No.

I like it, MLRS is preetty gud too. I just don't like ultrafat shit with over 9000 weapons strapped on like >>14101668 probably does.
>>
>>14101637
We need more evil looking gundams with the usual colors.

The only one we got since the Physalis was the Barbatos but only kind of.
>>
>>14101673
Nah, that's just different feddy paint. The GP01 has a lighter white that's almost blu-ish like those old pictures of GMs

the GP02A has a somewhat darker white that's more like a beige or tan color that's a similar shade to the GM Kais on earth

Cool, GP02 thread.
I've been meaning to ask about the MLRS variant. The 'R' stands for Rocket but are those things really unguided rockets? Or are they actually long-ranged guided missiles? I haven't play the game where it appeared.
>>
>>14101772
guided missiles aren't very common in minovsky jamming conditions so it's probably just meant to be a unguided barrage
>>
>>14101750
for you
>>
>>14101772

The fluff doesn't elaborate on the rockets themselves. Generally in when talking about military equipment the term "rocket" is meant to identify an unguided weapon system ("missile" is used for guided weapons). But we can't expect anime writers to know anything about how the military works.

The only game I've played with GP02 was Reborn DW game and rockets seemed to be semi-guided as they won't stray far off a set path.

we've heard various gundam stories drop terms like "laser communication" and whatnot during battles, and from what we know of minovsky jamming it blocks longer EM wavelength (where radio waves are) so laser tech still works, but that means line of sight is needed. so something would need to keep the target illuminated with a laser to keep the missiles guided

there's a few instances of rockets and missiles in UC being programmed to follow specific trajectories, but usually not homing in on targets
>>
>>14102016
minovsky distorts visible light in combat density spreads.

mobile suit cockpit screen's don't show the pilot the raw camera footage. they show a computer corrected image of what things should look like.

Guided or unguided, does it confirm that those rockets have nuclear warhead?
Also, info on the beam bazooka will be appreciated.
>>
>>14102103
Non-nuclear. Zook is a nuke zook.
>>
>>14102103

The rockets are conventional.

The beam bazooka was supposedly a conversion that Zeon forces planned to do after the expenditure of the nuke. Like the MLRS, it just never came to be.
>>
>>14102223
the beam nuke is a shaped charge nuke?? i still dont know how a nuclear bomb became a beamu.
>>
>>14102259
Same on the outside. New on the inside.
>>
>>14102259

The nuke coming out as a beam was just because the Japanese had no idea what a nuclear strike would look like. They may have drawn inspiration from Re-entry Vehicles making streaks in the sky as they fall.

>>14102288
eh, i still think a shape charge would probably stll be the better case for this scenario. im assuming that was the front barrel attachment is for the launcher(made with magic metal) . nuclear explosions wouldn't be as effective in vacuumed space so focusing the reaction would actually be better.
>>
So fucking cool except for the dude huge legs
>>
>>14102376

I don't know...warhead was just a shaped charge GP02 should have been sent rocketing back in the opposite direction like nobody's business. But who knows? It's not like anime has a good track record when it comes to physics...
>>
>>14102507
>>14102376
Was clearly a nuke. Shaped charges don't work that way and games back it up as launching a projectile.
>>
I think the GP02 is really ugly, but it actually works really well for its role. Not something that personally speaks to me, but I like it for what it is.
Now, Dendrobrium Stamen is GOAT, and horribly underutilized.
>>
>>14102016
>so something would need to keep the target illuminated with a laser to keep the missiles guided
We need mobile suits with a headmount laser designator with a fucktonne of laser-guided missiles or something man this would be GOAT
>>
I wonder if head vulcan of GP02 is stronger than GP01 or average GM. It looks like so in the anime, but that's probably just the animation that makes it a lot stronger than the peashooter it actually is.
>>
The shoulders are really cool.

Barbatos doesn't count. Looks like a normie pussy to me.

I vote for this guy though not having traditional colors and doesn't even match the wicked look of GP02. That trait only belongs to GP02, Gundam, hero colors but still evil looking.
>>
>>14101650
>"evil" Gundams
Fat shaming gundam.
>>
I want to like the 0083 Gundams but they just suck.

The Physalis primary function is launching a nuke, which it can only do once before it needs it's shield replaced.

The Zephyrantes is just another RX-78 that fails to improve on anything but is useless in space without the Full-Burnern system.

The Stamen's only function is to drive the Orchis. The Orchis itself is a stupid retcon since it and the Neue Zeil are the only things other than the Big Zam that have I-fields which are never implemented in anything else.
>>
>>14102053
Even in 0079 there's a scene where miharu takes a picture of white base and it's fuzzy as shit and scratched up because of minovsky particles
>>
>>14103744
>The Physalis primary function is launching a nuke, which it can only do once before it needs it's shield replaced.

The shield doesn't need to be replaced after every strike. Where did you come up with that?

And how many nukes do you think you need? The quickest succession of nuclear strikes on an enemy was still 3 days. All US nuclear ICBMs now only have a single warhead each.

Besides, GP02 is a fairly small frame for a self-contained nuclear weapons platform that is designed fulfill a role of an agile close-combat fighter at the same time.
>>
>>14103744
Nu Gundam has i Fields.

So does Unicorn.
>>
Gato dropping the nuke in the middle of the Feds naval review has such a WW2 undertone, I feel that the 0083 direction just had to slightly augment it, at least not down to details like an actual shell slowly flying out. Though it may have been pure ignorance in physics, or the action director having a masturbation on that day.
>>
>>14102288
>the Japanese had no idea what a nuclear strike would look like
You might want to rethink that statement boyo

>>14102259
This scene was a giant "Wait... wat" moment, a two piece bomb looking object loaded into a multi-piece bazooka/launcher we expect to fire some kind of missile. But nope it's just a big yellow beam, which for some reason the MS still needs a shield for, and to cool it down for some reason.
>>
>>14108121
>You might want to rethink that statement boyo

Why? It's not like any of the people that worked on 0083 were at Nagasaki or Hiroshima.
>>
>>14107517
So why Feddies start interested in nukes again anyway? They won the war without nukes.
If it's mentioned on the anime, I haven't watched it in a long time.
>>
>>14108472
Those were stationary explosions.
A nuke exploding at high velocity would basically be a burning ball of death streaking through the vacuum. It could legitimately devastate a fleet.

>>14112094
No more Zeon meant no more Antarctic Treaty.
