The ship they are on participates in the Battle of A Bao Qu and is heavily damaged. Most Zeeks abandon the ship. Io manages to free himself and rescues the other crew members. Later on they are all picked up by Federation troops.

A bunch of devout Buddhist contracted by the Federation to salvage the dead finds the damaged Psyco Zaku and rescues the grey-haired scientist (who has all the schematics for the Reuse-P device). Later the found a breakaway nation called "South Sea Alliance" which challenges the EFF control over South-East Asia and India. The Federation sends Io with the Atlas Gundam and the new Pegasus-class ship Spartan to defeat the South Sea Alliance.

TB designs are a bit weird, but it does make sense for the space variant to require a giant backpack, akin to how VF-1s in Macross require space super packs.

The HG models are currently crap, I want Robot Damashii or MG Thunderbolt stuff.

Psycho Zaku is overloaded with equipment because they know it's going to fight the Gundam which has managed to destroy an entire fleet along with a lot of Zakus alone.

Also the fact that Psycho Zaku won't have the chance to resupply, with the likelihood of the equipment getting damaged, it makes more sense to be safe than sorry.

First off, almost called exactly how they'd animate Thunderbolt. If really felt like the pacing of Episode 4 was really sped up for some reason. Also a shame they didn't show Kliebier, or the Federation Fleet (The latter is understandable.) but it really showed a massive contrast between how each side cared for their comrades. Since the former dropped everything to race to aid their side, while the latter didn't even care and just said they'd go into the system unopposed. Regardless It increases the chance that Thunderbolt will be a one shot series, but I'm betting it's a case of waiting for more material to be finished. So it can go either way.

A draw to Io is a defeat to him. It's why he broke down when he wasn't able to kill Daryl. The overall battle was a Pyrrhic Victory, but that was only because the Federation didn't have the stomach to fight to the last man like the Zeon troops did. On that note, I found it interesting that they finally included 'Sieg Zeon' in this episode. Also a missile rack is where our masked CPO (I forget his name) blew himself up, it's the same area in the Manga where Kara planted the C4 as opposed to the reactor in the Anime.

It kind of reminds me of the Vietnam War when Carlos Hathcock's sniper unit started wearing his trademark white feather in their boonie hats after the NVA put out a bounty for the "White Feather Sniper"

I don't think they say how many of Zeon's forces are still fighting, but they definitely seem more like a resistance/guerilla outfit than how they were pre-ABAQ. Compared to the big battles of the OYW, these are skirmishes against pockets of die-hard resistance that refuse to accept the armistice. I'd still call it a mop up op, but the SSA are something else.

Also the Feddie maps shows that Zeon still controls terrestrial territory. This isn't like the post-war TV or Movie timeline where Zeon just operated in areas like Northern Africa, in the Thunderbolt timeline, they outright still control territory.

Also in volume 7, Zeon's forces converted a Dolos into a Submarine pen for their navel forces. The logistics of taking a Dolos class ship, getting it through the Earth's atmosphere undetected (or distracting the Feddies long enough to have it slip by them.) and then converting it into a submarine base goes well beyond that of a resistance cell.

I will concede they are more likely to opt for guerilla tactics because they no longer have the manpower or resources for large scale battles, but it's still a fare cry between what we see in Thunderbolt and the Invisible Knights or the Delaz Fleet.

The battle was already decided because Io was physically exhausted and still in shock over the loss. Given enough time, yes, Io might have regained his composure to keep fighting without his suit (But that also assumes he had a gun on him at the time he was in the Gundam to take a shot at Daryl.) We'd also have to make the assumption that core fighter mechanism was jammed because he didn't opt to eject the mobile suit parts like he did with his GM when he was shot in it.

Mass would be the correct term. You still need more energy to move objects with more mass. This still applies in a zero-gravity environment. If the Gundam sheds mass from the armor and retains the same amount of force from the thrusters, it should be able to accelerate more
