I mean, on one hand they have a point, stuff like Transformers was made for children to enjoy and sell toys. Most Americans haven't seen any mecha shows that have more mature stories and themes, not that Transformers can't be mature, the movie with Optimus Prime's death was heavy for a kids show. Mature stories and themes don't sell toys so nobody is going to make that stuff and is just going to keep it planted firmly in "child stuff".

It's actually the best Avengers book out there, which probably isn't saying much since people shit on all comics anyway, but still, it's the most fun and the writer has always been reliable.
That being said, Songbird's still fucking things over for herself, per usual, cause, despite being the actual leader of the team, she's a mole for SHIELD., and if you have a strong dislike of gay people or minorities that you look away at anything that involves them, you aren't going to give it a try.

Power-wise it's actually a pretty good line-up, but with people from Young Avengers, where almost everyone was gay, the Mighty Avengers, where almost everyone was black, and then Songbird, Squirrel Girl and Hawkeye, it's sort of a hodgepodge of like it or dismiss it, especially with that art style, and it's not given much time to do much with it.
Currently, any interesting Avengers books would be Uncanny Avengers, Ultimates (though same writer as New Avengers, and also has minorities in it), or Squadron Supreme.
Also, ironically, the kids, aside from Vision, are the only thing interesting about the Iron Man Avengers team.

This practice of replacing traditional white heroes with minority characters is just an acknowledgement that the minority character is not capable of making a name for himself. I don't even get why it's seen as a good thing.

Years and years ago Ditko made an ugly joke character who saved Iron Man from Dr. Doom using her powers of annoying people with squirrels.

She was pretty much doomed to obscurity, then several years back /co/ found her, and kept spamming her cuz they found the joke funny. With her becoming a meme character on the internet, marvel decided to start bringing her back, so she started making appearance where she fit, like on joke teams such as the Great Lake Avengers. Only this time she was kind of cute instead of ugly. So she kept getting more and more popular, so marvel kept using her more, and started missing the point. Like bendis making her a babysitter for luke cage and implying squirrel girl had sex with wolverine. Eventually she got her own book which did take her back to being ugly, and then made her fat to boot. And then they put a crazy webcomic feminist on her book, sealing her fate forever.

The ironic thing is it keeps happening. /co/ likes a character, memes them back, they get popular, and then Kate Leth gets a hold of them.

Now Kate Leth needs to be given a book about the bored shop keeper girl from that one episode with the Creeper that /co/ obsessed over for while.

So random stuff like this is cancerous to comics because it serves only as an excuse to say 'comics are still fun' when it's essentially a non-sequitur. Not a one and done where the ebin kaiju and robots have a point in the narrative, it's just an exhibition of 'fun stuff' without any thought behind it. And they have the audacity to go 'yes a giant robot' just to go 'oh man this is so crazy and wacky and fun' like all the other comics that feel the need to excessively lampshade silly things
