This. Kuratas has the speed, so my guess is it will zoom around and try to crash into MB in an attempt to knock it over or something.

>in an attempt to knock it over or something.
Megabot looks way more stable and heavy than Kuratas. If anything, doing that would only damage Kuratas.

the megabot is just a construction vehicle with paintball guns built to look like a half assed robot, so a group of arrogant manchild with sunglasses can pose in front of it and be all 'MURICAN while begging everyone for money.

While the Kuratas might be a fun personal project, the megabot is a product of greed and conceit. Even if megabot does win, even if giant robot battle becomes a big deal, we Americans will still have this unironic joke of a representative, and that's just sad.

A corporation can still be one guy. In this case, that's exactly what it was. It's one guy, several employees, and a half dozen robots.
>>
>>14087018
It's still a product of love. Money put into Kuratas is from an economic point of view wasted. Who will buy this? In enough quality that your development costs will be refunded? Even as an advertising/publicity stunt, that cash would be more efficiently used elsewhere.

But one or more of the higher ups obviously loves robots, and decided "I'm in position to actually create a real life mecha. Let's do it".

Kuratas will win because it is armed with two strongest weapons you can have in a mecha genre - love and courage.

Only Japan can save this event actually, buy showing sick fight moves, killing the megabot and enjoying sushi for a winning feast while chanting "Banzaiii, Banazaiii".

In all seriousness, it should be made to be like a destruction derby. People take risks there. It is legal, some get majorly fucked up. It's impressive. There are fires. Vehicles get immobilized.

Then build a better robot.

These two guys literally gave up their livelihood in order to chase their dreams. Two engineers, people who literally get well paid jobs thrown at them by the dozen gave that up in order to build their own giant robot. I respect them for that.

If you feel disgraced, truly outraged, go and build a better robot, go beat their robot to bits with it's own to legs, go and show the world what you're capable of.

>the megabot is a product of greed and conceit.
And what could possibly be more AMERICAN than that? Revolvers and a football helmet? Maybe some boxing gloves? A surf board?

Seriously, though, the Kuratas was clearly designed by an actual engineer. Megablot looks like it was built by some above-average rednecks in their back yard. If they are going for paintball instead of the meelee combat they agreed to, it's possible they could just brick the Kuratas in a short amount of time if they load enough dakka on it. Probably only if they're in an open areana, though. If they have terrain cover like a few blocks of mock city the Kuratas should be able to outmaneuver it in a prolonged battle.

Megabot *looks* like it's in danger of tipping, but with the frame being made of plywood it's probably very bottom heavy. But, of course, that also means that the less dense upper portion is less durable and could possibly buckle or even sheared off of the base if it gets hit hard enough.
>>
>>14091446
What did you expect? They probably started building the Megabot only when there was news of the Kuratas. They just wanted to get some of the hype.
>>
>>14091398

Well I made a typo in the previous post, but, well.

>>
>>14086680
Assuming Kuratas can "drift"/move sideways, it'll zip around Megabot shooting pellets at it, thus winning by points, then it'll move in for the kill, clotheslining Megabot, only to knock itself down in the process. While Kuratas is flailing on the ground, Megabot will ponderously topple over while the pilot cam shows the Megabot pilots freaking out as they fall.

Megabot will be declared the winner because it hit the ground second.
>>
By the way, what's the name of that beetle tank/car that some dude built?
>>
>>14091532
>Assuming Kuratas can "drift"/move sideways, it'll zip around Megabot shooting pellets at it, thus winning by points
circle-strafing FTW
Pretty sure Megabot can't pivot at the torso. Even if it's got good range of motion in the arms and some kind of targeting camera for aim assist, shooting sideways while moving forward is not the same as shooting forward while moving sideways. Also the Kuratas being able to move in any direction in order to get behind cover and/or get out of the line of fire is a distinct advantage over Megabot only being able to go forward or backward unless it turns first. Imagine playing an FPS deathmatch against a player whose left analog stick only reads up and down. They can walk forward and backward, and they can turn, but they can't strafe or dodge sideways.

>>
By the way, has there been any discussion on why the Drakens in ep 1 weren't using Fold Boosters?
Do they have that capability integrated now?
>>
>>14098028
No, it's all true. The /pol/ grade bullshit is not understanding that all the blowjobs and back-pattery over doing nothing (taking apart a consumer clock) don't stem from a misunderstanding of the kid's abilities (non-existant), but are instead a reaction to previous OVERREACTION to the clock (he's brown = IT MUST BE A BOMB) and the usual encouragement that we give to unskilled children who nevertheless have an interest in certain fields.

Like 99% of outreach to children isn't trying to help the extremely gifted kids who know things 10 years beyond them, but is instead aimed at continuing to foster a child's interest in a field in the hopes that as they grow they will actually learn something and become useful.

Think of a kid who snaps together a Lego Mindstorms robot.
>Congrats, dipshit, you followed the instructions in the manual and didn't fuck up. What a crowning achievement, being able to piece blocks together in a predescribed order. This is only slightly more complex than babies stacking Lincoln logs. Fuck off.
That kid thinks building a robot is COOL AS SHIT even though he didn't technically build a robot. He was all pumped up about it and you just stomped all over his dreams. He's not going to become an engineer now. He's going to play Madden all day and get in arguments on the internet about sports teams and occasionally gripe about how all the McJobs are taken up by robots and brown people. Sure, talking like he's a fucking genius for following a kit's instructions is a little disingenuous, but raising children is almost entirely lies and manipulation for their benefit.

And those genius kids you occasionally do see that have apparently achieved triumphs in engineering? Daddy did it. Every fucking time. But it doesn't matter, because at least Daddy is giving them the encouragement and the knowledge that society would like to withhold, and they're more likely to grow up to fucking be somebody as a result.
>>
>>14098269
The clock looked like a fucking bomb. Like the kind you'd see in 80s movies. His engineering teacher already warned him and told him to put it away.

Remember, this is America. You're not even allowed to bring in a toy gun to school because the staff are (rightfully) paranoid over school shooters.

Sage because this thread is barely /m/ anymore.
>>
>>14098269
When I was a kid, I took fans apart. I got praised for my ingenuity. Looking back, nothing I ever did with machines or electronics was even marginally interesting. But I was encouraged to continue, not told in black-and-white terms that all I'd succeeded in doing was removing a magnetic coil. Now I make six figures a year building wind turbines.

It turns out interest in technology and a desire to learn are far more important than any natural aptitude. Those lacking in knowledge can be taught; those lacking in drive or interest will never care.

it should also be noted that there's a huge difference between enabling children by being excited over their non-achievements and simply praising them for absolutely fucking everything because they're the best at everything and such a special snowflake. the latter kills drive because they're the "best", why try more; the former must come with a recognition that there is more to learn and do
>>
>>14098281
It looked like a clock. Let's forget about brown kids or any notion of racism for a second and address an even more important issue: the safety-minded coddling of fucking ADULTS.

You know what's really ruining America? Grown-ass men and women who are so ignorant of technology despite being surrounded by its wonders. These are the dipshits who have prospered from all our medical advances, but have no interest in understanding the first fucking thing about them and are currently off breeding the next superbug because they demand antibiotics from their doctor when they get the flu and insist that vaccines will turn their kids into autistic retards. They spend half their waking moments on a computer smaller than their hands which is hundreds of times more powerful than the shit we used to put men on the Moon, but they'd flip their shit if they saw a remote laying in the alley with its battery case off. OH FUCK, AN EXPOSED CIRCUIT BOARD, IT'S GOTTA BE A BOMB.

Americans used to be fucking excited about technology and scientific progress. Now they don't give a shit unless it can be used to increase the number on the back of their iPhone. The ubiquity and ease-of-use of our technology has created a new generation of people who have no desire to understand without doing a goddamn thing to combat the older generations who considered it all too complex to get in the first place. That's why we're outsourcing technical jobs and importing technical workers; Americans don't care about the tech, the brown people do, it's still magical to them.

Technology, efficiency, and automation destroyed manufacturing jobs, even as our manufacturing capability continues to grow greater than ever. They're going to do the same to the new service industry which is currently propping up our citizens. Unless we recognize that technical jobs are the only way forward until we hit 100% automation, shit's only going to get worse.

Little Billy needs a textbook, not a rifle or football.

>blah blah blah capitalism

A kid named Mohammed put together something that looked like a fucking cartoon bomb and took it to school.
14 years old kid, the kind of age where you can shoot up your school because you got bullied because America likes it like that.
In a southern state, the kind of state that's paranoid about that.
It's like taking your shotgun to the movie theatre at a big capeshit premier because you can and getting mad when they don't let you enter.

Also lol at
>technical jobs are the only way forward until we hit 100% automation, shit's only going to get worse.
Yes, because 300 million people can all be engineers, lawyers and medics.

>That's why we're outsourcing technical jobs

We're outsourcing the technical jobs because other countries will do it for cheaper and don't need the same insurance or benefits hiring within the country would.

Who cares, it keeps costs down for the corporation, which translates to savings for me, the consumer!

Wait, why is my rate still going up?

Also somebody figured out exactly which Wal-Mart clock Daddy pulled the guts out of to make it for him.

Nobody cared.

It's bullshit.

It looks like something straight out of an 80s action movie.
Would have been fine if Ahmed just fucking told the school "oh hey btw I'm bringing my clock to school tomorrow"
I can't say I blame him since he's just a kid, but I can't blame the school either.
Once again, this is America. With the amount of school shooters there, I think they'd be right to be a bit paranoid over this. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
