While the basic structure is mostly the same, they are pretty different Mobile Suits. The only parts that are exactly the same are the torso's midsection, the crotch and the limb frame. Everything else is different between the two designs.

Agreed, FZ is actually my least favorite of the three. Still, they're all good and I wouldn't have wanted an F2 or a standard Zaku in my 0080. It works really well in the OVA. But if I want a model kit, that's my third choice.
