Toeizinger is pretty much the exact same shit as the rest of the franchise except Kouji and Sayaka are assholes and there's more MoTW shit. Also, Mazinger looks uglier. Great Mazinger and Grendizer are worth it to watch because they really don't have much other than their anime and their manga, and the Grendizer manga ends abruptly with no conclusion. The anime expand and develop on what the manga lay forth

I see. The horns are based off of red oni though, just like 1s colors and the design of the tomahawk. Getter-1 is best described as a combination of an oni, batman for the arm blades and very arguably the cape, and a soccer ball.

Well, Mazinger is more of a traditional series and better for it while Getter comes off as trying too hard. Edgy unorthodox not your average protags who kill not Jinmen instead of trying to save the people, use ridiculous weapons like minigun that shoots homing rockets making it come off as more of a meme. That's not to say it can't be enjoyable, though. But Mazinger is Nagai and it gets bonus points just because of that. His comedy, style and art are always nice to see.

In regards to Grendizer, there is also Gosaku Ota's manga currently being scanlated by Happy and HnG (which makes Koji a wee bit less restrained than the Toei version), although the manga he did for Mazinger and Great haven't been done yet so far.

I'm a huge Mazinger fan but Getter is by far the better series. It actually has a coherent and cohesive story with the manga whereas Mazinger is just a bunch of random disconnected anime and manga that barely make sense outside of the most basic established narrative of "Mazinger and co fight evil". Don't get me wrong Mazinger is still a badass series and fully deserves the legacy but Getter completely destroys it in literally every aspect.

The only reason you find Getter better is because of the continuity between arcs.

Go Nagai has his own version of Getter Robo Go for example. It's called MazinSaga.

It's a spinoff and I heard it's pretty good. So to me, while Ishikawa enjoyed a continuity, Nagai continued bringing in and trying out new ideas in Mazinger.

They have different approach to their own works. I don't particularly find Getter's narrative stronger than Mazinger's.
