Not him but this thread really doesn't have much reason to be here. They're all just videos about things. The only one I'd say is actually /m/ is the "There Will Come Soft Rains" one and the TIE one since OtaKing comes here. Everything else is iffy.

We don't have airplane threads, or tank threads, or car threads. Those that are here tend to either be day/k/are rejects attempting to shitpost, random shitposting and memery, or nothing at all. We also don't have mods. Fun times.

Bumping one of the most refreshingly unique threads I've seen on /m/ in a long while.

It's kind of easy to pick out the people who are relatively fresh to /m/ because they're always the ones storming into threads claiming something isn't /m/ when anyone who's been here for more than a few years would know that it's been decided quite unanimously, on several occasions might I add, that pretty much anything is /m/ in the right context. Guyver is /m/. Godzilla is /m/. Steam punk is /m/. Alternate History/Retro Future War machinery is /m/. Spaceships are /m/. etc. Only the newer crops seem to really think that /m/ is exclusively for robots and curiously also typically exhibit an aversion towards anything Western in origin.

Even if you still refuse concede this is board relevant, it's at the very least a breath of fresh air in contrast to the unrelenting waves of redundant and re-posted threads that either attempt to discuss older media that we've already discussed to death or venerate Japan's latest efforts in low frame rate cell shading (y'know because when you think of high quality /m/ech animation naturally dreamcast cutscene tier graphics is the first thing that comes to mind).

I honestly wouldn't mind it if the music or videos were fresh and unique but most of this is pretty dull. If the content is worthy, usually the thread will stay unchallenged for a long time. Plus the content is really, really fringe /m/. We can have threads about anything mecha, actual machines, appliances, sci-fi, kaiju, toku, sentai, mecha musume, and any of the other things you said and have wide participation. But this is a bad topic to have here and clearly nobody else wanted a part of it.

If you want a fresh thread then make one and stop replying to Gundam.

/m/ isn't about fresh, at least not in terms of what is popular or what keeps a seat on page 1, quite the opposite actually, it's about pandering to a genre that people will talk about no matter how good or bad the current media for it is. I remember back around 2010 when threads like these weren't so uncommon, but then again that was back when /m/ had a bit more class and diversity. Sure this board was made as a containment for gundamfags, but it did reach a point of relative cultured fruition before being snuffed out by the second season of Gundam 00 (what a worthless piece of shit).

No, this thread's only problem is lack of content to sustain it, the stuff posted is for the most part fine. As for your insistence that this thread's lack of popularity is due to its topic or content, I've seen god tier threads start out and then rocket to page 10 in favor of the tried and true copy & pasted gundam and toku threads that people will post in because they have nothing else better to do. Similarly Newfags and "not muh /m/' fags play a hand in what is perceived as popular as well resulting in an ever increasingly limited scope of what can be made into a successful thread here. That and the decline in discussable content and stagnation of the genre in terms of anime hasn't helped either. We're past the point of discovering old gems to talk about (which was a driving force for the renaissance around 2010) and anime has started trending towards being more niche in both the East and West making the genre less accessible to newcomers or passing interests. As for anything western related (which is where we're seeing far more /m/ content being produced) people would much rather discuss it on /co/ or /k/ and quite frankly I don't blame them with the attitudes here.

tl;dr the board is stale and the residents have gotten too caught up in what is "comfy" rather than what could be discussed. But it is what it is.

Everything feels like it's been done to death (taking a look at the front page right now, I see two "Was Anno a hack"/Rei threads, a SEED shitposting thread, a Robotech shitposting thread, /ssg/, another Gundam game thread, a Gundam X waifu thread, Iron Man thread and /srwg/. Compared to one Godzilla thread, one spaceship thread, obscure mecha thread, obscure /m/ images thread, and one original content/translation thread.) However, this particular thread is not a good example of what I'd like to see more of. Music with /m/ themes and subtleties? Sure.
