So I'm just gonna dump a ton of Lego mecha.Yeah, no that's about it.
Having just watched the lego documentary, this pleases me.
>>14065727
Looks like another Graze
The head and legs should be bigger, honestly
Personal favorite, I'll continue dump after my lunch break.
Fuck it I'm only posting a few good ones
Mandatory Kawamori playing with legos.
God damnit now I want to dig all my legos out of the closet and make a mess of my room for the rest of the week.
>>14065809
No they're perfect. Its kondo design, right?
>>14066399
I bought a few sets just to test apart and build Lego mechs. Will post.
>>14065872
That canopy looks fishy.
>>14065753
That's Neue Zeil you faggot.
Made out of General Grievous' wheel thing and a droid tank
>>14066399
>>14067012
Let's do this
It has its limits, but Lego Digital Designer is pretty great for making /m/ things.
>>14067766
And yes, this one only partsforms the wing parts into the legs, just like the real Genion. The only thing I couldn't replicate was the head swap and chestplate.
I've made my own lego mech.
I've added neck articulation and swapped out the blade piece for a different one since this pic was taken. pls r8
>>14067809
Okay for a first try. Ball joints or multi-hinge joints will improve your articulation considerably, especially at the hips and shoulders where it's needed most.
This is one I built a few years ago, it's still the cleanest-looking thing I've made. The joints could use some improvement, but they're a good starter for some of the basic techniques.

REKT
Since this seems to be "Stealth Lego General on /m/ Thread" I can post about how I reposted some of my Walker Machines in the Xabungle Day thread.
>>14057750
Thinking about it now, I should probably do the "roofless mortar" Crab variant that appears in a few episodes.
>>14067532
So, what do you guys think of Lego's own mecha designs, especially its apparent boner for exposed-cockpit-in-torso mechs?
>>14068461
Why is there a toothless robot guy in his arm?
>>14068479
I assume manually-guided rocket punch?
>>14068479
Because the shield doubles as a small Rocket Punch aircraft.
>>14068461
IMO Lego has had a big problem with the "female socket acting as base" thing. It severely limits articulation on most of their models when used with ball joints due to the nature of the joints as Lego likes to arrange them.
Exposed cockpits as Lego does them aren't something I'm a fan of because I prefer full metal to "powersuit" type machines. I also think Lego could go further into full Super Robot antics with no real issue and if anything I think it'd be great fun and fitting to TLG's sensibilities or even sense of humor. However, what's available now is still pretty okay.
The reality is that exposed cockpits make the most sense as a play feature for Lego machines, the reason being that Lego wants its robots to be compatible with minifigures, and the cockpits Lego does now are simply the easiest and kid-friendliest way to do them.
Older sets, sets that didn't involve minifigures or which had non-humanoid robots, such as Robobots, Titan XP, the various Designer robot sets, Classic Space, etc. all have had a massive variety in robots. This isn't even touching on Bonkle, which was really nice. I think TLGis doing a good job of branching out whilst sticking to certain concepts and principles. I look to them as an alright example of Western mecha designers even if what they do isn't all to my taste.
Personally it peeves me that they use "mech" and not "mecha" but that's so small and petty that it makes no difference to me.
Lego fan builder's designs and the like are a different story due to the sheer variety of what's out there.

>IMO Lego has had a big problem with the "female socket acting as base" thing. It severely limits articulation on most of their models when used with ball joints due to the nature of the joints as Lego likes to arrange them.
Yeah, that's my biggest issue, too.
It gets extremely annoying with stuff like the Mixel figures where it almost completely screws the (leg) articulation on some of them.

>>14068301
These kinds of builds fuck me up. How much did these cost? I don't the current brick exchange but it's probably something over 1k. I can't imagine spending that much on Legos SPECIFICALLY.i should post some of my mech builds. Altho I'd have to dig them out of storage.
>>14068461
I think this is a rearrange of sort of that set.
https://twitter.com/LEGOdouMoko/status/705622218093387776
man Nexo Knights is shit
>>14068563
Why didn't we get Lego like this?
All lego I ever saw were building blocks
>>14068798
I wouldn't call the designs shit but incredibly bland, generic and blocky so far, especially compared to the other Lego action themes like Ninjago and Chima.
I wish I still had the image that compared various support vehicles from various themes where most of them looked almost moc-like while the Nexo Knight bike looked like something you'd expect to be black, white and trans-green with a big green "B" somewhere printed on.
Might as well repost my shit
Also I plan on making a third one in the vein of a Dom (big hover legs and a bit more chest bulk) but I can't think of a color scheme to give it, any suggestions?
>>14070288
The thing I'm most proud of is the fact that they fit minifigs inside
>>14067728
Not bad, try a biped next
>>14066366
Kawamori does not play with lego.
He creates mechanical life, like the god of mecha he is.
>>14067528
Yeah I know that, the LEGO just makes the eye look grazey
>>14070293
Pretty fucking sweet. I'm gonna end up building one that just uses the minifig head on an exo type body.
>>14068301
>fully upgraded Mammoth 3
Muh dick
>>14068481
This is really well done. Digging it a lot.
>>14068301
This level of building was definitely every lego loving child's life goal!
>>14066156
Aaaand I know what I'm fielding in next MFZ battle.
>>14068301
If I remember right, this one is also remote controlled.
>>14068871
Most of parts used on those are available since middle nineties. In last seven or so years LEGO started spewing new sets under new management, leading to revitalizing afols somewhat. This and japs were always crazy with their designs.
Also, doing originals was always about finding new way of fitting square peg into a round hole and lots of lateral thinking. I remember that during Mobile Frame Zero beta people were coming up with variants of basic frames by eighter elaborating, finalizing in minifig scaled mecha with pretty much full articulation and model that looked identical but used only basic z common blocks.
>>14069728
I wish Chima took off, some of their designs were good, like the Phoenix Palace that becomes a phoenix.
It's like a furry mecha that never came to be. Like a furry VOTOMS.
>>14073022
At least it had a game on 3DS (sure, it's one of the hundreds churned out by Traveller's Tales, but still).
>>14073063
I like how they handled the minifigs
kinda wish we know what they look like "un-Lego-fied"
>>14073091
>kinda wish we know what they look like "un-Lego-fied"
Probably like cuter versions of those Chi-forms.
>>14073097
I dunno, they look more like muscle furries in skimpy clothing
speaking of which I love the croc's vehicle
so what made everyone become all friends when they showed the ice nation
>>14073091
Something close enough to Beast Saga, I'd imagine.
>>14073105
Well, I guess it depends on who powers up since some of the main characters wear a lot more armor.
>>14073142
they do but still with exposed parts
anyway back to me fawning over this, we need more "temples turn into mecha"
I got a bunch of legos and no idea what to build
give me mech ideas
something yellow and beefy pref

These are pretty amazing, the head details are a lot more accurate than usual.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpT2eB25NPE
A lot of these seem to be made possible by pieces that I'm pretty sure didn't exist when I played with lego 20+ years ago.
Still impressive, just sayin'.
By any chance does anyone that make these models ever post the piece list and instructions? My imagination is shit but I do want to replicate some of these.

Guy's work has been posted many times in this thread. I haven't checked all of his posts, but he sometimes has instructions in them like:

This will always be my favourite Lego robot. The red version was pretty cool too.
>>14068461
>what do you guys think of Lego's own mecha designs
I like them overall. The Bat-Mech was the only one I found disappointing. The chest is barely held together and it leaves his back totally exposed.

can't find the rest of my mech photos. Have some Aquazone
>>14085054
I remember having that set.
I chewed all the chrome paint off those harpoon pieces which is probably why I'm retarded now.
>>14066270
Fuck, that is so badass. I miss my Bionicles.
>>14066270
This one is dope too
This propably was my oldest set.
>>14088968
And since I'm lazy, I didn't bother to dig out the pieces so I rebuilt and uhh... improved it in LDD.
How would you use LEGO to make the Gundam and GM from Ecole du Ciel?
>>14088972
I'd imitate an existing model of the OYW Gundam, and from this, create a GM, and then I would continue to modify these to fit the MS I was actually trying to build.
Any opinions on the LEGO Exo-Force? I have the 7704 Sonic Phantom.
Do people just buy a horrible number of sets to get the specific pieces to make these?
This thread got so sexy holy shit
Almost everything got fukken saved
>>14092995
No...they tend to get singles bricks from places like bricklink.com or brickowl.com
Lego Tachikoma

First wave was pretty great and I was surprised how inexpensive those mechs were since I expected them to be more around 20 bucks.
Didn't care much for the second and third ones due to the large amount of ball sockets and some unappealing or repetitive set designs but the ones worth buying like that small spider mech, the fuckhuge booster or the Golden Guardian - oh boy, those were glorious.

Neat, but I think you probably didn't need to use CCBS for what you've made. A combo of Technic, System, and CCBS could do it.
