What does /m/ think about 80s cartoon mechs?

Any favorites from the old saturday morning shows like GI Joe, MASK and other cartoons?
>>
>>14065450
Loved them. These shows were half-hour toy commercials, but they were fun as hell. And the designs were pretty top-notch. Simple and awesome.

I always loved the Condor from M.A.S.K. - A combination motorbike and helicopter is cool. As was Mat's car, with the doors doubling as wings. Ninjzz and Jungle Fiver from Bots Master were pretty cool too. As was the Thundercats tank.
>>
>>14065450
Can take 'em or leave 'em, like most things from the 80s.
>>
>>14067567

Oh, and Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors had some great designs too, as did Centurions. Great transformation/suit up scenes too.

posting G.I. Joe and you don't even post the best thing about the 80's version;

A helicopter that shoots out boat/flyer things? That's fucking awesome!
>>
>>14067671
the Classic G.I. Joe line had a ton of ridiculous yet cool designs like that
>>
>>14067688
I know, I played with a bunch of cool joe toys as a kid. Just never saw this one. I think my favorite as a kid was the base that came with a launch platform for that space shuttle, and also came with the giant shuttle too.

Cobra vehicles had the coolest designs like HISS Tanks and the Night Raven.

Saturday morning cartoons? That shit rots your brains, just look at Americans.

Exo Squad was probably the best of them, even if they got silly with the bodycounts after awhile. Sure, Captain Marcus' death scene was great, especially because he'd been a cunt for most of the show but managed to go out like a champ, but there was that time Able Squad got a new member and her suit burned up in reentry literally two minutes into the episode.

Like, what was the point of that? And the Neosapien genocide of the Earthlings on Mars was also pretty over the top.

I watch robot cartoons to see pretty explosions and canned action, not contemplate the horrors of racial war.
>>
>not one mention of the Rattler
It's an A-10 on crack.

HANG ON EXOSQUAD IS A 90'S CARTOON, NOT 80'S.

Anyone here remember StarCom? Some nice ship designs and some really god animation in a few episodes;

Ah, Galaxy Rangers. I actually just recently watched this show and was surprised to see quite a few death scenes, especially from an American cartoon. Grunt ships and fighters (on the good guys side no less!) get frequently blown up without any 'it's ok, he ejected!' scenes like in GI Joe, and in one episode some redshirts get straight up murdered by getting tossed out an airlock.

I've never seen the show but I've seen the toys, based on that OP itself it looks like something they can redo these days, with some tweeks of course

Not strictly 80s, but I fucking loved my RAoJQ toys. I had the jet and the bike. The translucent plastic was a revelation.

I used to have the Venom from MASK. Fucking awesome shit.

Pic related is from Mega Force, the Ram Fist. It had a spinny button which rotated the big sweeper arms when pressed. Over the top, but fun as hell, and it introduced me to the concept of ace customs.

it's like you forget BRAIGAR
