Depends on how much Konaka retains his stance on not having its secrets cleared up.

There are two best case scenarios:

One, they serialize it and don't bother with the mystery angle anymore, as Konaka intended. The show becomes just a weird sci-fi/steampunk detective show with giant robot fights and does well

Or two, it tanks massively and gets shelved, but FLCL succeeds, so the execs at Cartoon Network decide there's enough potential for other older properties to work. They bring back Megas XLR, Thundercats and Space Dandy


"Who cares" scenario: They bring it back and make silly changes, like removing Big O itself or incorporating time travel to make sense of the shitfest Konaka left behind

Worst case scenario: Everything in the first two series was caused by some huge conspiracy. The show becomes rife with thinly veiled and poorly done political commentary. The only good thing to come out of this is that Schwarzwald has a bigger role

The entirety of season 2 gets retconned as a hallucination in Roger's head from a gas leak in the Big O or some other such thing (relate back to the tomato analogy or some shit). Show will then proceed with its original "monster of the week" style story-telling. Conclude with Schwarzwald or his higher-up. Have R. Dorothy do cute shit. The end.

I thought the new one had some merit to it. They could have made a great story out of it, and I don't like seeing stuff with potential get canned before it can actually realize that potential. For whatever reason, this seems like a much more common practice in the west than it is in Japan and it sucks

An anon posted here >>14045828, what is probably the main and more plausible reason for cartoon drop the series. Theoretically wouldn't be impossible to retake the series, if they wanted to make a second season they could re air the first season to prepare ground and make some good advertising campaign. But doesn't seem that CN want to do it, and would be difficult with Gendy working now in Sony pictures.

I liked the series, and think it could have great potential, but all the high school setting really bored me too. Its a personal opinion, but the series would probably be better if was more like episode 16, the one where it shows how all shit started on their planet and with that great sword fight, focusing more in the Galaluna conflict.
