You know, the weird thing is that the first anime was never as nasty as it could be. For instance, I expected the Prince to eventually get corrupted somehow, and for Leon to have to take the armor back. But instead, the Prince is just an amazing guy. More, he doesn't even seem to suffer any problems that would come with being the King - i.e. Having to decide between your kingdom and your duties as a Makai Knight, having to sometimes kill people as a King, which is a no-no for knights.

Then you had some strange stuff like the Curse in the first place. I thought the big reveal would be that Leon was actually the villain's son - hence why he was cursed. But not, it turns out that Germaine really is his dad. (Which makes the flame seal thing a strange, roundabout and sort of a dick thing for Leon's mother to inflict upon him, actually - Because what if Mendoza didn't become immortal?)

But I still loved the final episode because of one moment:

That's what I meant by things are never as dark as they same. In the penultimate episode, the alchemist has just been shot in the heart by a shotgun, and Alfonso is struggling to hold back a colony drop with a single suit of armor.

I was like "Wow, they're completely fucked."

But it turns out they're NOT fucked. It turns out that Alfonzo CAN stop it just by being a badass, and the girl took a chestful of buckshot like a champ.

The seal was meant to protect León from harm and was tied to his emotional state (I guess it was the only way she could come up to how know when he would be in danger.) She didn't know that León would group up with lots of issues and couldn't foresaw how much of a shitty dad Germán would be.

Did the Seal ever do anything useful for Leon before the end? I don't recall it ever helping him. I mean, it kind of fucked him up pretty bad. (I liked the strange ring-sashes that Leon had in his Garo form, personally. I was sad to see them go when the armor stabilized, because I liked his unique take on it.)

Personally, I'd have liked to see the armors transform more. For instance, I thought Ryuuga's black Garo looked amazing, until his series turned out to be utterly awful. It's still a very cool design, which is probably why it's been relegated to a kind of super mode.

I mean, the idea that each version of Garo is a new incarnation of the hero's story is a great one. They just don't do as much with it as I thought they would.

First GARO series comes in two forms:

- Original 7 volume DVD (I missed the volume count in my earlier post)
- EMOTION THE BEST Complete Box

First press of the original release includes at least a nice Amemiya designed outer case to store the volumes. The later released complete box also has a nice Amemiya designed outer case to store the two included DVD boxes, but as far as I know, it lacks all the bonus footage included in the original 7 volume release aside from the Smile Gaiden.

It would have a counted for quite more than foreshadowing, honestly, which would have been detrimental to the story. One of YamiTera high points it's that its revelations are actually a surprise to the viewer, while actually making sense. They even spend the so much called "second recap" (I don't call it that) in telling the viewer "See? You should have suspected something! But you didin't! We win!" Ryuga crying when he first hears the song of the Goddess Statue and he remembering his mother when harming Madou Horrors filled the part of the foreshadowing in the right amount for me.

At least it has a different color, so we can assume it's a powered up version. Still, in GOLD STORM they reused a fair ammount of CGI models from previous work in some of the most odd ways. First, there's Raizon, which is the one with less issues aside from they not willing to call it by its name in any GS side material por some reason. Then, there's this blob, which in YamiTera didn't have a name, but here it has another color and it's called Geldaina. Then there's the Dark Beast inside the mirror which used the same model as the Red Dog from of the Garouken from Soukoku no Maryu. Finally, Gouten appearing in Gald's fire spell. You can try to think about explanations for all of these, but ultimately it looks like they just used them because "why not?"

Since when is that an impediment? Out of all the Makai Kado figures, the only ones originally designed by Takeya are Gouten, Ginga and the Madou Tools. That's why they're the only ones that look really closer to or the same as their TV counterparts.
