You say this as if there's a problem with it. And besides, they're not really ever unstoppable unless they're in Shin Getter, which Go introduced.

There were a few subtle hints beforehand. But anyway, of all the Getter works to lay it on the table, Go is the one that probably is the least interesting about it because it doesn't show the consequences of extensive Getter Ray use. Even New Getter had the whole time travel element that made it so effective (because it was straight adapting Shin, but still). Without that, it just seems like Getter Rays exist to make robots eat things and turn pilots insane.

I was unimpressed, OP. Getter Robo and G were barely any different from the standard 70s Go Nagai manga, Go was boring, Shin was good but disjointed, and Arc would have actually been the best thing in the franchise if it had been completed. It's just a cocktease as it is.

I will say it had great ideas, but I just didn't care for the execution in most cases. Just be grateful that DP scanlations finished it before going AWOL

Even before I got to Go, I liked it. Compared to Mazinger's original manga, GR and GR G have teeth -- much more dynamic and exciting. They're both MOTW, but Getter has a more interesting cast of protagonists, and shakes up its status quo before the formula has a chance to get tiresome. Meanwhile, Mazinger gets more and more formulaic as Nagai devotes his attention to the anime adaptation, making the later chapters a chore to read.

Go and Shin are on another level as far as art and storytelling, of course. Not to insult Nagai, though -- Devilman, which he wrote even before Mazinger, is fantastic, and nails the transition from MOTW to apocalyptic drama long before Ishikawa did it.
