***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

I was considering picking one up.

>>
>>14028853
>After watching a few videos on its transformation I realized just how complex that thing is, and I can't imagine that kind of complexity at about the same size as my HGUC Freedom will go all that well.
As long as you only transform it once or twice, it's totally fine. Remember, it's a model, you're not supposed to play with it.

Seriously though, if you want an RG Zeta, just get two.
>>
>>14028412
It has great hands
>>
>>14028893
>it's a model, you're not supposed to play with it
Fair enough, but I still don't think it'd be a smart idea to purchase an RG Zeta as my second kit ever.
>>
Is MG F91 worth the buy? It seems to be an old kit but I love its design (except one little thing). Moreover it seems complete and really cheap.
>>
>>14028412
what happened with the red?
>>
>>14028910
Yeah it's par with most 2.0 MGs, comes with a unique base that you will likely never use, and has the neat little novelty of being completely without polycaps.

Just be gently with it, it's tiny and that means tiny parts as MG parts go.
>>
>>14028349
Good luck, buddy. Those funnels are fuckin' evil.
>>
>>14028910
It's a 9 year old kit and It's still better than most MG out there.

No polycaps tough so careful with it.
>>
>>14028960
Sounds nice but what about the unique base you never use? Is it because it's ugly?
>>
>>14028973
What's the matter with no polycaps? Articulations are more fragile?
>>
>>14028982
The base is meant to look like the top half of the mobile armor Rafflesea complete with tentacles and a tiny Iron Mask. But it's just one big ugly hunk of red plastic that doesn't allow for nearly as many posing options as an AB 1 and is completely awful if you intend to display the F91 doing anything BUT fighting the Rafflesea
>>
>>14028988
Not necessarily but It's harder to assemble and you can easily break something in the process especially in the V.S.B.Rs.
>>
>>14029007
You can also hace the F91 ignore that It's even there.

Looks kinda goofy tough

has anyone found or know of a decent way to keep holes aligned on rounded surfaces. Want to flute a barrel or just give it heatguard/cooling jacket

Ive gone through so many plastic pipes trying everything I can think but the holes are impossible to center, go straight through at times or keep aligned for the none staggered pattern.
>>

why not just use a flat plaplate, punch out the holes in the desired pattern and then roll it into a tube?

I think posted about it a few threads back, but this is my first time building a model kit/gunpla in over 10 years. Still getting used to the tiny scale of this thing, already messed up a few parts during denubbing, but here's what I have so far.
Panel lining was giving me a bit of trouble in the beginning, will probably have to fix some lines here and there.
Slowly getting the hang of it, I think.
>>
>>14029326

That looks nice, try using some rubbing alcohol on a qtip if you want to remove or clean up lines. Very light on the rubbing alcohol.

This is a start but inadequate. You need to build a full jig that will allow you to con fix both the work piece and the tool for each hole.

Gundam Scrach Build Manual 2 covers this very nicely though. I highly recommend that book even if you don't know a lick of moon. It's worth its weight in gold with picture knowledge alone.

Thanks guys, yeah the second image looks really advanced in itself but I think I may have a idea for a jig. Ill just need to figure dimensions and stuff and accurately cut it out. I was thinking of getting a square tube one size bigger, measure two sides opposite of each other with markings for the holes then slide the pipe through secure it and drill.

But the big issue when drilling without a something to secure the bit or not having the bit level can alter the hole shape or location. Ive seen a jig for pipe fitting as well, its basically a metal bar with holes drilled down the middle at various sizes for bits, but on the opposite side is a 90 degree cut with the holes directly in the edge. You slot the pipe in and clamp the jig but still thats a machined tool

With the cockpit done for now I have moved onto the head. I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to do this. I can get the bottom half fitted into the slots okay and just need to connect the two sides and refind the shape a bit, but the top half is going to be tricky.

Chrome gold
Ballute System (which is original MG mould but with yellow plastic instead)
HD Color version (Original MG mould but shiny coating instead of chrome)

The newly released 1/100 Kimaris is labelled specifically as "Booster Unit" type. They probably have plans to release a 1/100 version of the Trooper as well, depending on how well the 1/144 version sells.

As for Astaroth, they developed a universal frame for the Gundam Frames in IBO, so I doubt Bandai is going to pass up the chance to release a 1/100 version of it down the line. It's a no-brainer.

Also, interestingly enough, 1/100 Kimaris Booster Type uses the same IBO Gundam Frame as the Barbatos. The 1/144, I believe, has some differences in the frame for mounting parts, but the NGs should be completely swapable. The Gusions do use a slightly different frame, however.

Built, for the most part. Still need to do some touch-ups, and then I'll try top coating it.
Slowly getting used to the whole panel line/cotton swab thing, realized I was putting too much lighter fluid on it and was getting rid of most of my lines in the beginning. The swabs I'm using are big and really fuzzy, which made some spots hard to fix, but that's something to practice I guess.

Ground Graze is the best, with flat heels and that medieval broad sword.

I actually anticipated a 1/100 Graze Kai long ago, but much earlier than the Gusion etc.

This is a Graze deluxe pack and it may just be missing the regular space/Mars booster so I won't be able to make regular Graze. But owning a mix of regular Graze and this one has also of new weapons to play with. It is kind of like the HG Graze Ritter which was praised for having all the regular Graze parts. Bandai better redeem themselves by giving a Carta/regualr 1/100 Ritter.

I am still surprised how many HG MS Option weapons made it to 1/100, without keeping them as HG exclusive. Now we have Gusion Halberd, Kimaris Booster, Graze Bazooka, Lance(p-bandai) and Graze broad sword. Still no Graze shield though.

They still kept it at the price point of 3000 yen.

If IBO is still hot, we better get 1/100 Kimaris Trooper and Graze Ein. Graze Ritter also likely.

Making other changes to the kit or giving it a unique weapon is the best way to do it, that way it's not exactly the same thing
>>

Using plastic cement on unpainted should be okay, it can leave a mess and some nasty marks depending on how rough you are sanding.
I'd also highly recommend topcoating because otherwise the sand marks are going to be too visible to look good.

If you're using putty to seamweld then painting is necessary but that should be obvious.

koto kits have amazing engineering applied to their design. Older kits sadly have horrible plastic (breaks easily) and their policaps are oddly shaped, most importantly, koto policaps tend to mess up quickly.

Snapfag's quieted down in /gpg/ lately. It's nice.

At the beginning of the expo a few days ago there was a bit of filename spamposting, but janitors/mods deleted that fairly quickly.

Ordered on HLJ my first Wing kit, RG Wing Zero

What should I expect?
>>
>>14033803
By the way, I've missed out of any expo news, haven't been in /gpg/ in a while. What're the releases?
>>

you should expect a wing zero in the mail

Nothing new. Just showed off stuff we already knew was on the way.

Magazine scans have revealed a 1/100 graze custom/ground type and a red full armor unicorn hguc though.

I line at a minimum, but coating isn't really a priority. I got my modelling start in 40k so I'm no stranger to painting either but it might take me a month before I'll actually paint anything I've built. Physics+Chemistry double major is a lot of work.

Just wrapped up assembling this sucker. Gonna line it this weekend (hopefully) after I get back from a short trip.

Anyone got any suggestions about the hands? It can barely hold up the rifle without the hand covering coming undone.

No, not really. It was pretty straightforward to build. Other than the *bazooka, it's pretty slick.

Need to paint over the edges on the GN condensers, just couldn't clean them up like I wanted.

...w-what's wrong with Kyrios? I've got one in the mail after flipping a coin for it or Arios
>>
>>14034069
Pretty piss poor articulation, almost no poly caps are used. Comes with beam saber hilt, but no beam saber. Posing is a bitch. Just overall not good in my opinion. I'm actually building Arios now and I already like it a lot more.

just get builders parts weapon set 006. it also comes with sturm fausts and a shield you can attach spikes to. one of the better weapon sets imo.

Is the mega ride launcher compatible with any of the HGUC Deltas without modding?

Nope, you need this style back connector, you might be able to use the Mega Shiki's back part with the front part from a Delta?

So I'll have to buy a Mega Shiki and a Delta to make a transformable Mega Shiki?

Is there something wrong with the HG, or is the MG just that much better.

From GunplaWorks:
>The Mega Launcher connects to the Mega Shiki by three points on the back. This ensures a secure fit. That grey part on the back of the Mega Shiki can be removed, and connect to typical two point connections on the back. I connected it to the Red Warrior with no problems.

I personally like seeing the black lining on the white paneling, sure it's a little jarring but I like the relief it puts the white panels in.

Also those proportions look fine but the heads are a little big.

Working on the RG Strike Freedom and I'm debating whether or not to do panel lining for it. The kit has an assload of decals and does a pretty good job of separating panels on it's own. Anyone out there with some experience care to share?

>>14032501
I hate sanding stuff, if you have the wrong grit everything gets scuffed up and it makes a mess with powder everywhere.

A blade mean I can cut off exactly what I want with greater control, and neatly trim off or chamfer edges.
>>
>>14036197
What's a good sand girt for gunpla?
>>
>>14035726
For the same reason you don't even panel line.
>>
>>14035726

you had a moment of clarity, then you ruined the kit and went back to shit
>>
>>14036267

you need a range

like literally all sanding
>>
>>14036899
I don't sand. Explain.
>>
>>14036945
There isn't one just grit you use. You need different girts depending how much you're sanding, and how smooth you want the final surface to be. General range is around 600 grit to 2000 grit IIRC

legs primed.jpg
256KB, 1200x979px
>>14036977

that's a pretty good range

If I were brand new and needed sanding tools I would get a bunch of hardware store "extra fine" sanding paper which is around 600 grit, white glue, and popsicle sticks to make my own coarse (for us) plastic removers. Then I would get set of micromesh pads which last forever and go from like 800 to 4000 or even up to 12000. With these you pay once and are glad you have them forever, you can polish paint with them too.

I love squadron sanding sticks, but I realize they are overpriced. The tri-grit stick is super handy and I would bring it with me with a knife and nippers for a bare minimum build kit.

These are my sanding thoughts, and I do lots of sanding.
>>
Just want to say what we already know,

Gunpla is dope as fuck!

Any custom builders here?
