It's an awesome design, but it's an awful OVA. Half of the screentime is devoted to setting up the, "every villain has a fatal flaw to be exploited" conceit, which is never exploited because Zeorymer is so hilariously OP that all it has to do is fistbump itself and everything dies. The villains themselves basically boil down to one personality trait each, while the heroes don't even have that. Some of the villains are almost interesting, but none of them really go anywhere since all they do is get introduced and then die to the fistbump of death one by one.

I thought these were too bulbous personally but they weren't terrible and I liked their tentacle rape fingers. The Escaflowne definitely came off to hard as "MUH WHITE KNITE SUPREME" and I thought detracted from the show too much. Knight of Gold was more subtle and better designed imo.

My problem with Nagano's designs mostly involes the Waist line, and high heels. I mean, he has great arm/leg/head design, those are top notcht. but i feel like it could fall over at any second, and it could snap in half from poking their thin bellies. Or how he adds WAY too much onto what feels like a structurally unsound design

in your example image to prove how your taste is superior to everyone elses. the Middle Right one makes no sense. Especially around the waist, oh god the waist. What's going on with the arms? or are they shovels? why is it orange with white stripes? is it used for construction?

Some of the head designs are okay, like Top Right. but the Bottom Right,Bottom Left, Top Left, Middle Right. Feel way too much.

He feels like the robot needs to have as much as possible, while not having enough at all at the same time. the designs clash horribly, and what makes it worse, it barely stays stays in unverse design.

At least Escaflowne's Guymelefs had this organic/giant suit of armor feeling. And the extra bulkiness makes it feel like a true clockwork machine. Sure there is magic involved, but it doesn't feel too forced.

Nagano needs to have the frame itself be small, and the equipment be fucking the same damn size as the machine, yet somehow look even more sturdy than the mech itself. I like how some of them look, especially Top Right.
Middle Right makes me angry.

Look, if you want to design a giant robot to have a structural weakness in a major location that would be aimed at in a fight, sure go ahead. But seeing how robots are designed after humans and our shape, wouldn't it be better to make an area, that would logically hold some important power cell, or the pilot. The torso, is the most important section for most machines, it's your center of mass, it holds something most likely necessary. Designing the waist to be so thin, only makes it look like it's going to snap in half.

Look, if you think it looks cool, enjoy it all you want. I just don't like it. And because one anon brings out a valid reason for his/her dislike on one tiny detail, and you can't defend your reason for liking it besides it "looking cool." Don't have a bitch fit over it.
