That pic is totally out of scale. AC4's opening was like a spaceship launch pad while I remember cars barely reaching the knee of bipeds in AC1-3.

ACs from early games have the same height as the ones from 4/FA.
Official heights are:
Gen 1-3: 7-8m
Gen 4: 10m
Gen 5: 5m
The problem is that the scale of buildings, cars, and environments is way off across the games, especially after 3/Silent Line. The only game where scale of ACs matches the map is V and VD.

AC3 ACs are as big as NEXTs, anon. At least if you compare Zinaida's AC to her height. Of course you only see her in a usable scale for a bit so it's not that useful.
Also I'm pretty sure we briefly see a human-sprite in Project Phantasma which scalewise puts AC1 universe ACs around AC4 universe size as well

I was able to completely remap the controls so I could have Nexus-Last Raven PS2 controls so aiming with the right stick and attacking/boosting with shoulder buttons. Only problem is it's really awkward to drop parts.
