You guys can cry all you want about how mean no-personality-Mika is, but Carta did plenty wrong. She was the symbol of Gjallahorn's corruption pretty much, not maybe on her own...but more what she represents. Putting an obviously wildly incompetent person in charge of a military arm of even remote importance simply because of her family ties is beyond crooked.

Not to mention, we don't know WHY Makanai was in exile. Dude seems like a real shitlord when you remember how he's using both Tekkadan and Kudelia to get reelected, and has no problem with how Mika does things or using child soldiers. Perhaps he's really going to take the Parliament back by force?

And think about all the propaganda you could swing with Carta's death. "Makanai's savages brutally disregarded an honorable request for a duel and massacred noble Gjallarhorn soldiers."
