Closest thing to /m/ I've ever drew(drawn? english is confusing).
here's an exoskeleton thing
here's just a bunch of dumb sketches for a sentai comic i'll never draw
>>13986000
that's neat. do you have a premise or story attached to the design?
>>13986017
>a premise or story
Yeah, last year I was preparing to make a small game for my diplom, a 3/4 top-down metroidvania about an astronaut on an empty moon base. All people mysteriously disappeared while he was out. Now, with the help of base computer and slave drone he has to explore various sections of the complex to keep it functional and to find out what's happened to everyone.
Classic metroid stuff - exploration, powerups(two suits on the sketch, no upgrades and all upgrades), closed doors, shortcuts, secrets, hostile environments, mystery and plot twists.
Will completely redo all the visual stuff soon, next week, probably. I'll have to make it in three months. At least a demo.
>>13986032
sounds awesome! do you have any tentative name for the project so people can follow the development?
>>13986041
I have one, but it wouldn't matter. It's nothing, really. But only "for now", I hope. If I'll manage to make it into something worth mentioning, I'll surely post it on /agdg/ or something. So, there's that.
>>13986047
cool, well hope it all goes well
>>13986057
Thanks, anon. Your stuff look pretty imaginative too. You're picturing this as some sort of a cartoon?
>>13986061
thanks! more than likely a comic, because that's the only medium i know how to work with. can't code or anything like that, and haven't really messed around with animation either.
the premise is a little more fantastical in that it's a team of armored heroes that take cues from RPG classes. there's a knight, a mage, and a rogue. they're primary colors because any two members can merge together to create a new class that blends the colors, so an orange assassin or a purple battle mage for example.
here's a two page splash i did on a whim after reading a manga called terra formars. it's kinda /m/, i think
>>13986066
and the second page
Reposting this cool robot that one anon drew.
Not sure how good it is, but here goes a dump of stuff I've drawn.
>>13988607
>>13988600
I apologize for the pictures rotating. Am posting from phone.
>>13988600
this armor design is fantastic
>>13988607
but to be fair, the coloring on this is not. i would recommend scanning images and coloring digitally, it'll look a lot more even and less cheap than colored pencils / crayons
>>13988617
this design is great. the long limbed proportions remind me of this studio ghibli robot and other designs, and the fact that it towers over everything and has lanky drawn out arms and legs make it that less human and more robotic, in a classical sense. i could picture this thing running on steam.
what do the burning kites and ornaments represent?
>>13988600
For some reason this makes me think of shardplate. I like it.
>>13988743
Thank you! I'm afraid I don't know what shardplate is though.
>>13988723
Thank you kindly. And I'll admit I'm not really too good with coloring or experienced with digital art, though a friend is helping me with that last part. Pics related. I sketch it and he digitalizes it/fixes anatomy fucks up/makes it look much prettier.
>>13988788
It's a nice partnership; however, I'd recommend you do the part of fixing the anatomy fuck ups and such.
>>13988788
Fuck it, if you're posting I'm gonna post shit too.
>>13988820
Decided to fuck around with proportions on this one, just for shits and giggles.
>>13988827
And now for something completely different.
>>13988820
so wzc it hurts
The very first picture I ever posted here... Way back during Gurren Lagann's airing.
Sooo many years ago, and have done so much more since thing.
>>13988855
That's exactly the idea, yes. In-universe it was inspired by WZC and 00Q
I should be working on other stuff that doesn't involve machinery of the exceptionally large variety.
Still trying to improve my mecha designs, as they are kind of boring right now.
Don't know if this is my best or not, but it's recent.
>>13989230
i like how the cockpit is off center.
>>13989230
>Boring
I rather like it but I can see what you mean. I do not think, though, that it needs to be special to be appealing.
It makes me think of an Ironfoot from Dougram. The legs and waist also remind me quite heavily of another Dougram Combat Armor, the Cabarezov I think? Cabazerov? I can't remember.
I remember that one guy on DA who said it shouldn't have a glass cockpit for realism.
Man, fuck that guy.
>>13989230
Looks pretty good for the most part. My main complaint is that the heavily greebled body/arms don't quite fit right with the relatively plain legs. Try adding a bit of detail on the legs, or cleaning up the torso slightly.
>>13989230
Your style gives me serious Metal Slug vibes, I like it.
>>13988600
> Not sure how good it is
this is my origional character for super robot wars her name is Storm Bloodraven and shes the pilot of the shurougun which is combinations of the full possession shurouger and astranagun combined she can control akashic records and causality and is a time diver who can use the power of ein soph from the three solomon triangles to rewrite reality
>>13990023
Can I use her in my fanfic?
>>13990059
yes but don't forget to give me credit!!!!
>>13989231
Thanks, I tend to like asymmetric designs/elements.
>>13989256
Hah, yeah that comment. I could see where he was coming from, but I just wanted to draw a glass cockpit. And it's funny, I've seen some of the designs from Dougram around, but I haven't known the name of the show until now. I should look into it.
>>13989937
Yeah, you're definitely right, the concentration of detail is really lopsided. I'm going to try and be mindful of that on the next mecha drawing I do.
>>13989966
Thanks man, Metal Slug is great, so that's an awesome compliment.
I'm still pretty shit at this to be honest, I need to practice more
>>13988859
You should post some more, I like it
>>13988600
>that helmet design
I fucking love the Jegan vibes it gives me
>>13988600
It's okay.
Design is kinda generic and the proportions are sorta off in certain places.
It works, but that's it. Right now, you're in the essential sweet-spot where you've got the basics decently down, and now you've got to tackle the more advanced, relative to what is shown in your image, aspects of art.
It's a decent place to be in.
>>13990542
I also dislike a lot... Nor do I want to spam a thread, so if you actually want to see more, just go to guyverc.deviantart.com
Hi-Bump
>>13988788
>my friend makes it not look as amateurish
You'll never improve this way. If you want to get good, you're going to have to be the one to put in the extra work.
fire up your soul, GANDAMU
>>13989230
this is bitchin, i need to do more studies of real mechanical greebles. physicality is the most important part of depicting mecha, imo
>>13988790
>Constantly going over the lines like that
Jeez, draft or not, tell your friend to focus on making single confident strokes
>>13988820
That looks awful.
Another hack artist reporting in. Trying to catch up on all the time wasted not improving at art during high school years. Just picked up photoshop and now I'm practicing lineart and colors.
The mecha design on the left just kind of happened but I kind of liked it so I played more with it during uni math lectures as pictured on the right.
>>14001903
nice deviantart anime gurl there
>>14001903
here's a fun comparison. This is what my stuff looked like a year ago.
>>14001910
Straight from those fabled How to Draw Manga books.
>>14001910
>>14001960
Just so you know, that is not how I usually draw my characters. I'm not comfortable drawing anime at all actually and I guess it shows. That time I just felt something anime-ish was fitting and imagined what a generic animu girl would look like and put it on paper.
>>14001903
this looks better than anything I've drawn so that's good
does nurkles still lurkles?

SEPTIMUS; GOLEM OF THE VOID
This strange vehicle is perhaps the oddest and modest vessel employed by one of the 9. It's rich in symbolism and history. It has evolved over the odd 1300 years of it's employment beyond recognition. The initial frame was said to have been a recovered Golem Deorum. An automaton forged in heaven for the sons of Ottoborg to help make creation. Whether this is true or not we will never know. IT was however thoroughly dead. Seven saw in it a magnificent frame, charged with the foreign and robust energies of the outer realms. As one who would constantly be on the move the appeal was intrinsic.
It's method of generation is a mystery though the most popular theory is that it runs on some sort of expansion drive. Deriving it's raw energy from the it's movement through the very edges of realities ever growing domain. This energy is then used to puppeteer the frame in it's travels.
In height it stands at somewhere between 30 -50 metres. This variance is in part due to the fact that the feet of the machine are often never present in a singular reality. Instead they are said to rest on nine dimensional cosmic strings and gravity cambers, allowing movement anywhere. This does mean that the entirety of the machine always rests just a bit bellow dimensional high-tide. In a pocket area or klein bottle. Indeed in his many travels seven will often appear totally alone on his cushion while in fact the rest of his machine simply exist elsewhere under neath him.
>>14002078
On the back of the machine rests several curious items. Attached to the back are seven tokens of strange power tied to the outer realms in fate. Their exact use is to be questioned, the best guess being some sort detecting devices or environmental determinations. They glow with power at different times and indicate different entities, or worlds. They are listed here:
1) Gigantic dust spyglass/telescope. Amber in colouring and rusted closed. Origin unknown, use unknown.
2) Great tome. A huge book bound several times over, inscribed in beautiful foreign pen writing. Origin unknown, use unknown.
3) XL coil. A large charged coil containing thousands of volts of electricity. Used potentially for backup power? Origin unknown but well over a hundred years old.
4) Egg of a creature from the end of the world. What beast laid this? Who can say? Did the creature seek to have it's young escape fate? Used to generate micro dimension. Origins is unknown but from a realm no longer extant. Glows purple/black energy.
5) Karmic sold-state gem. Forged from pure karmic energy of the plan of the outer worlds, rotates gently. Glows deep blue. Origins unknown. Used for power as well as karmic stabilization of rifts and micro dimensions of the automaton.
6) 2 metre by two metre data storage device. A large device used for storing information. Said to contain a section of “The story of the closing of the third age.” What this means is unknown. Origins unknown, though dating suggests 10 million+ years. Glows faint yellow. Use unknown.
7) Bicycle, grey. A standard fixed gear bicycle, very normal. Said to have been used by “One who lost themselves in the outer worlds.” Charged with energy. Origins unknown. Use unknown. Glows red faintly.
>>14001514
Alright. Why?
Not too happy with how this turned out, but I love a good /m/ drawthread and felt I needed to contribute something.
>>14002154
He's your typical /m/ trash shitposter, I'm assuming
>>14002154
not him, buts its a very flat, static image, and the perspective is a bit off on the blade and on some areas around the head.
I know I'm not very good, but I'm hoping to get hired by Sunrise. Do you think it's good enough?
>>14002245
Not quite, but I hear there's a Korean firm that often works with them. You might be over the age limit but I'm sure you can do it if you try. It might even lead to a job at Sunrise some day!**results not guaranteed or expected
>>13988820
Spatial awareness is really poor. Look at the joints connecting the legs to the waist. They aren't operating under any law of perspective of three dimensional space. Instead, they are lying on top of each other, both at the same size and completely untouched by any foreshortening. Same goes for other such limbs such as the arms. There's other minor problems dispersed throughout the image, such as the left hand being smaller than the right hand, even though the left hand is closer to the camera. The left foot's shape contradicts the contours of the right foot. The head has a slight slant, akin to something of a a massive underbite with a gundam mask over it. Just to name a few.
The design itself is much less objective, but I really can't think of a word to describe it other than "loud and obnoxious." Angel wings, multitude of glowing parts, GN pixie dust, spikes and other such protrusions - it doesn't have much coherency or a consistent design language. And because it has no coherency or consistent design language, it's much less memorable. Even if it is derivative, as you say, it doesn't represent or convey any actual style of Katoki, Ebikawa, or your own. It further doesn't help the design when there doesn't seem to be any comprehensive frame of which it is built upon. The thighs are connected either to the stomach or a waist no thicker than a handful of centimeters.
>>14002381
I was going for something stupidly flashy, yes, but I suppose I went overboard on the whole thing. The angel wings are mostly there to justify a few things in crunch - that suit is for an RPG, as is >>13988600 - but, on second thought, a mantle or cape of some kind could fill the same function just as well while make the sillhouette less of a mess.
Boops
And an attempt at something more flowing and organic.
>>14002179
>Star Saber
You're pretty cool anon

>>13988723
2/10 slightly more detailed/minor shit added ver. of Dragon Age DLC armor in Mass Effect 2
little doodle at work. It didn't start out looking like an eva, but it ended up looking like an eva. had fun playing around with the design though
>>14006022
shinkawa-esque
Some rough fantasy mecha i did one night. Needs improvement and the head is a geometric mess but I'm fond of it overall
>>14006031
>>14006035
Reminds me of Turn A. It might be the legs/feet.
>>14006035
Oh my god, I want to see an action cut-in of bambi in a pilot suit
>>14006043
This, also the mustache crest also tells me Turn A
A rough organic alien type mech I'm working on
