Some additional observation notes about the vehicle (which I don't know the official designation of, possible 1234/II as seen in the scans?)

Definitely based off of the Soyuz-FG which was a fun nod to the fact that the EUs engineering ranks would feature Russians in the Geass World. That said, it could have taken the form of Saturn or Titan series vehicles as both were the brainchild of Wernher von Braun, a German aerospace engineer who was brought over to the USA in OP Paperclip, which assumedly never happened in the Geass World.

The vehicle's ascent operation itself is actually a little strange. In this screenshot, you can see the boosters breaking away in the bottom left. What's strange about this operation is that the entire 1st and 2nd stage have detached at the same time as opposed to the real SFG where first the 4 exterior boosters detach (the 1st stage), and the centerline booster alone becomes the 2nd stage. Likely just an oversight.

And still talking about the above image, that yellow tower and brown cone and rod are likely a launch escape system, an independent safety vehicle that will detach from the main vehicle in case of launch failure and save the pilots. The problem is that it seemingly connects to nothing. In real LES', at the base of the 'tower' is the crew capsule, ready to be separated from the main vehicle. On Apollo's chariot, that's not the case. As seen in this screenshot, all 4 of the reentry vehicles containing the Alexanders are housed within a stage separated from the LES by the yellow bulkhead separator pictured in the screenshot.

But again, this probably just an oversight and it's anime, things don't always have to make sense.

Did someone find the released ost of Akito?
>>
>>13955183
I guess this is one of those cases where the fact they got it 75% or 80% right is enough. The rest can be covered by super tech. Hoping for perfect accuracy would be ideal, but not practical. I like they didn't add sound to space at least, since anime often ignores that.

Orange staff interview:
-They have to make a good model before animating since after that they can only make minor changes to them
-They had a easier time with MP KMFs but when the unique ones appeared they had more work
-Insect Mode was hard to render properly
-The action is different from the TV series, they mention they lacked Lelouch's character impact
-OVA 2 battle in the city shows the advantage of CG
-Camera work was at times too much
-Lancelot's mirror battle scene had to be made separate: one for the real and one for the reflection. Only possible because it was an OVA
-They didn't use Slash Harkens and Landspinners too much to differ from the TV series(WTF?). Lancelot's battle was a throwback
-Gracchus extending arm was like Guren's so they took advantage of it to animate the battle. CG is great to show battle damage
-Gallia Grande jungle gym battle was thought by Akane after OVA 2. The heavy immobile Ahuramazda VS the light fast Alexanders, like using pesticide on insects.
-Storyboards are not very useful for CG animators so they always consulted Akane
-When doing TV animation they have to aim for low risk(schedule/budget), not a problem in a OVA where they can make retakes
-A centaur has a different center of gravity from a horse so they animated Vercingetorix galloping in a mixed style since such a creature doesn't exist, the cliff scene had goat movements
-Vercingetorix is the KMF that represents Akito to them
-CG software evolved and helped them
-Some design details are filled in by the CG team, they also verify the transformations

>I believe it has a missile pod somewhere
Presumably, since it looks like that panel on the side might be for a missile pod.

>Camera work was at times too much
Both a blessing and a curse. It looked neat most of the time, but occasionally it was slightly excessive early on.

>Lancelot's mirror battle scene had to be made separate: one for the real and one for the reflection. Only possible because it was an OVA
Pretty awesome detail in that scene, so I'm thankful for this.

>They didn't use Slash Harkens and Landspinners too much to differ from the TV series(WTF?). Lancelot's battle was a throwback
I guess they wanted to establish a distinction between the older series and the new production. At least they didn't completely forget to use them.

>Gracchus extending arm was like Guren's so they took advantage of it to animate the battle
Never thought of it like that, but makes plenty of sense.

>Storyboards are not very useful for CG animators so they always consulted Akane
I wouldn't be surprised if that was one (but not the only) of the reasons why production took so much time.

>When doing TV animation they have to aim for low risk(schedule/budget), not a problem in a OVA where they can make retakes
I imagine, plus a few more CG tweaks for the disc release.

>the cliff scene had goat movements
Curious trivia.

>Vercingetorix is the KMF that represents Akito to them

-BD for 1080p glorious mech porn.
-BD 5 booklet for possible info/lineart. It's guaranteed to cover the Liberte and Red Ogre so we might get missing lineart/info on them

and we must pray for a mook that will give us Akito machine specs and missing lineart since PW2 was rushed
>>
>>13957007
Just asking, but can those sorts of things end up in certain publications like Great Mechanics or others sometimes?
>>
>>13957025
>>13957025
I have scans from the last 6 or so latest GM but they have almost no info or lineart for Akito, sadly

only relevant info I remember is the Alexander Valiant being almost on Vincent Ward level and the Gracchus being a customized version of KMF that lost to the Gloucester as the Sutherland succesor(RPI-12?)

There's a new GM being released in 2 weeks but no confirmation it will cover Akito, but there's a high chance it will cover OVA 5 so if there's any relevant info/lineart I will post them here when I get the scans

BTW they already have the specs for the Akito machines but for some reason they haven't revealed them anywhere.

Is it possible that Liberte has something relative about Energy Wings engineering? Here my tips:

- Boost effect everytime the wings are on.
- Lloyd said that Guren SEITEN used data from Vercingetorix and Amanecer. Both of them Damaged.
- Vercingetorix and Liberte stabbed each other to death.
- Weisswof castle seems to be abandoned.
>>
>>13957156
nope the thrusters seem to come from Ahura Mazda's butt unused gimmick(similar design) or are leftovers from the original idea of it being able to fly. The wings deploy to give better control at high speed

Camelot did all the custom KoR KMFs so they had data on Sagramore

Energy Wing tech is about a year away

Gokka Byakuen seems to have something similar to Liberte's BL gauntlet, maybe they are related somehow
>>
>>13957156
>Vercingetorix and Amanecer

I found that claim rather weird, since it's not like there is any evident link between them and SEITEN, at least from what I can tell.

I think it looks better than the original Panzer Hummel model did back in R2, which was too simplistic in terms of design, so if that is a retcon (similar to what Gundam tried to do with some re-designs in 0080 or 08th MST that I think just became variants in the long run), I am fine with this.

The Alexanders were meant to be different, effectively a semi-private experimental creation that wasn't widely adopted by the bulk of the military.

Well, it's a model developed by Anna, and was used exclusively by wZERO. However, paying attention to some scenes in the OVA, you notice that's it's a machine that is also undergoing testing.

So, it's entirely possible that the EU may have planned on eventually adopting the Alexander as their main KMF once it was complete finished.

Also, I didn't say only melee. I said all-purpose. Meaning it can fight in both close and long range like Britannian and Japanese KMF.

PW01.jpg

The main force Knightmare Frame of the EU army is the Panzer-Hummel. There is some distress within the EU army at having to designate this machine as a Knightmare Frame, when properly speaking it isn’t classified as a Knightmare frame. There are also said to be soldiers in the Britannian army who call the Panzer-Hummel a “pseudo-Knightmare Frame”.

The Knightmare Frame, a humanoid weapon developed by the Holy Britannian Empire and used in the invasion of Japan, had a big impact on the military-related people of the world with its ability and general-purpose height. Afterwards, the Panzer-Hummel was developed by the EU army with the aim of creating Knightmare Frames. However, the Panzer-Hummel, with its inferior performance, wasn’t a good rival for Knightmare Frames when facing them on the battlefield. Particularly inferior in terms of mobility, the Panzer-Hummel could not do a thing against Knightmare Frames that closed the distance between them at high speeds.

In such a situation, there is the state of the art and special tactical frame “Alexander”, deployed by the secret W-0 unit.

The details of the Alexander’s development team are said to be secret, but it is said that it was developed by Anna Clement, a member of the W-0 squadron, at her family’s factory.

The Alexander’s greatest features are its completely human silhouette, made with the assumption of anti-Knightmare combat, and its ability to change into the bug-like Insect Mode due to its transformation mechanism. The mobility of its Insect Mode is greater than that of its humanoid mode.

PW02.jpg
317KB, 1751x1189px
>>13959406
There are two reasons why it was equipped with a transformation mechanism. The first reason is that, because the tactics of the W-0 unit adopted the idea of disturbing the enemies who attacked Knightmares from behind the front lines, the Alexander needed a space-conserving form. The second reason is that, in order to approach the high-mobility Knightmare Frames of the Britannian army at even higher speeds than the enemy possessed, a form that dramatically dropped the ratio of hits on the Alexander was necessary.

Also, the Alexander is equipped with original-conceived features that differ from the Knightmare Frame development history of the Holy Britannian Empire and the Knightmare development team of the Militarized Zone of India which derives from them, and is a unique frame that could be called a “fruitless flower” in the history of Knightmare development.

Mecha is always good, but ... Akito the Exiled have ended and without creating a complete picture of the main series and materials initiates it.

Who the hell is this French loli?!
>>
>>13959587
Yeah, I always thought her appearance there was a cameo of someone who was planned to appear in the OVA, so I was surprised that she was nowhere to be seen.

Maybe if we get one more European based side story, she can sppear.
>>
>>13959587
She might be relegated to non-canon status though, considering that little girl doesn't even appear during the TV show and that's just a still from the last part of the Birthday PD.

-Thanks to CG the KMFs can have more details
-Alexander has a feminine waist because it had to be lightweight to perform its mission.
-Alexander's head is inspired by knight helms
-Sutherland is blocky while Guren/Lancelot/Alexander have curves
-Insect Mode idea came from the staff after they saw Yasuda's draft
-Vercingetorix has changed considerably from his draft, the cockscomb got smaller
-Vercingetorix was inspired by Galient centaur mech
-Alexander is based on medieval Europe while Vercingetorix reminds of ancient Rome soldiers
-The SDA Axe was a design he put on the net originally but had no use so he decided to use it in Akito, also inspired by Panzer weapons
-He was a fan of Galient and CG allowed the Vercingetorix to become reality
-Junichi Akutsu did the Ahura Mazda, but Yasuda had to design the Liberte before the Ahura Mazda existed, so basically the chest armor is the link between them
-His Lancelot design was simplified for the TV series but he wanted to complete it, but he only did small changes as the design was already very popular
-Since Geass was already an estabilished series innovating is difficult
-He says Slash Harkens aren't a core element to KMF since they aren't used much in Akito. While KMFs are similar to ATs they are more human-like thanks to the cockpit in the back
-Finally he says he wants Geass to continue so he continues to draw KMF

I'll do a quick check to review the book tomorrow, since something could have been overlooked, but it would be fair to say this is already 99% complete.
>>
>>13966001
Well, there is the gypsy wagon for example. The book considers that as a prop.
>>
Damn so many lineart got shafted...

This was already a problem with the TV series, there are pieces that have never been published
>>
>>13966030
Like what? I am genuinely curious about what we're missing here and what the TV series skipped.
>>
>>13965561
Vercingetorix definitely had a Roman/Celtic motif going on. The Alexanders always looked a little more like ninja robots to me, although the helmets and the Liberte did obviously end up reflecting a certain amount of European knight influence.

I should attempt to watch Galient one of these days. If nothing else, the robots look pretty cool. It's no wonder that centaur mecha would tend to have some appeal.

Insect Mode is one of those things that some people never quite got into, since transformations were rarely used during the original show. Personally, I thought it was a neat gimmick.

Same with the SDA Axe with the all gears, which would gain a prize as one of the most unpopular weapons in the property's history yet it was actually used to rather intimidating effect during OVA 5.

I don't know if it was Akiman who said it, but I remember hearing that the way the robots in Code Geass were animated, even before Akito, treated them more like humans than pure machines.
>>
>>13966039
The thing with Code Geass lineart is that most of it is in rough draft, and for these books they prefer clean ones

TV Series: Burai missile pod, Gekka line ejection pod&flight pack, basically every Nakata cleanup detail/armaments(for example there must be lineart for Mordred's builtin missile launchers), basically almost every ship/vehicle detail/armaments, etc

Akito: rough for the Valiant weapons, Gracchus's arms/head/legs, Ahura Mazda handguns, other details, rough for the SDA Lance(to give an idea how it was supposed to work, Red Ogre's various KMF/Insect Mode profiles(seen in the theater pamplet) and shoulder missile pod, detailed lineart for Liverpool and Canterbury, brain raid activation mode heads for Alexanders, the actual color correct Raphael Sutherland(they got it wrong in PW1 too and other books), Gloucester's Lance, Liberte's Yasuda draft, Michael's large transport plane, other minor vehicles and details for them

that's all I can remember for now
>>
>>13966153
I see. You'd think Sunrise would have standard procedures for this kind of thing by now, after so many years of producing, licensing and selling mecha anime merchandise.

That's odd about the Raphael Sutherland. It might be a combination of late changes in the color palette and lighting choices.

Did anyone scan or take a photo of that Red Ogre theater pamphlet page? I can't recall.

Yeah, some lineart could help us better understand the interesting Geass world tech or even know weapons/gimmicks that were never used onscreen

another thing to take into account is that for some details the mech designer will only draw if required by the director, so some details are unknown even for them

and finally since the Geass model kits never became popular we will never get in depth explanation for some tech

Scanbro, a couple images have the edges blurred a bit because of the page end. Its not a prblem for most, but a couple, like Leila's Alexander, have parts on that part of the page get blurredd, and its beyond my skills to edit into cleaner stuff.

Any way we can get a couple of those images without that blur?
>>
>>13966318
it's the spine angle, only solution is to debind the book or some special edge scanner

don't worry it doesn't bother me at all since it's this or nothing

Unless it's one of the few pages that I did already try fix on my own (such as Ayano's, for instance), I'll be willing to do so again just for the record.
Unless you would prefer taking photos of the pages instead, so the overall image quality will be significantly lowered but at least these blurs will not be present.

Still looking through all as I edit these into segments, so I don't know all right away. The first challenge was here, on Leila's Alexander. I wanted to get an image of it since its the first we've had of it without the Drone control system, but I couldn't get rid of the blur.
>>
>>13966362
Yeah, I know. I don't like those blurs either.

Sometimes a re-scan can reduce them, but for certain page it's impossible to get rid of the blurring without literally cutting the book.

I don't need the full list immediately, but if you can point out other examples, I'll re-do the ones that I haven't already repeated by myself.
>>
>>13966375
the 2 Liberte pages are pretty bad in this regard, damn that long sword
>>
>>13966375
I'll let you know which ones are necessary. Leila's is the first, since its blur seemes a bit more than the others. I got drone control lineart and the Alex with the Drone control equipped.

The sword tip on Ayano's Alex Valiant is a bit blurry. Some of the legs on the Insect modes are on the ege, but I'm gonna try to see if I can edit them a bit first when I get to them.
>>
>>13966378
Swords tips are awfully tricky when they're so close to the edge. It might be possible to improve the results, but only permanent fix I can think of would require either merging it with a separate photo of the sword or other trickery.
>>
>>13966394
Ayano's sword is a big NO for re-scanning. Already tried that one a couple of times.

I might give take a photo tomorrow just so you can see the comparison.

Not to my knowledge. I wouldn't want to be the Admin anyway.
Besides, while he may not always be there, he has been fine.

Anyway, I'm gonna go use the images from last thread to make a page for EU landships.

anyway I won't start my work until the admin finishes formatting the new infobox.

the wikia will finally have good sourced mech info

but you can create the new pages and upload the lineart from PW2 in separate parts as you are doing
>>

Like I said, I don't have a preference on how the format is. I just want everything to be consistent. Whatever the format will be, I'll stick with it.

Float units came before the air glide wing, so technically the origin would be Britannian (reverse engineered, maybe?).

-Both Red Ogre pages
-Leviathan detail page
-Vercingetorix flight unit 1st page
-Leila's Type 02 detail page
>>
>>13973759
Can't upload the rest, so to address these:

>-Vercingetorix flight unit 1st page
If you mean all the pixelation/distortion on the flight unit picture located on the far right side, that's a printing error.

>-Leila's Type 02 detail page
For most practical purposes, this >>13961370 is still the main scan.

The re-done scan >>13967593 was only intended to fix the blurring issues with the Alexander near the page edge (see the hand).

>Leviathan

>Liberte details
The sword details on the right, yes. I'll re-do only that part.

>Red Ogre
Could you be more specific about this case?
>>
>>13973738
-he did the story in the format introduction-development-turn-conclusion
-mentions people thought everyone would die in the end
-mentions Noein
-to him blood is not thicker than water
-Leila and Akito were saved by meeting the trio and vice-versa
-to him Suzaku/Lelouch are symbols of an unchangeable world, but he included the scene where they forgive each other as a possibility.
-he mentions the Zeta approach of Amuro not stealing the spotlight for Suzaku/Lelouch
-he didn't want to show Suzaku/Lelouch for simple fanservice, so he showed Suzaku feelings while Lelouch was unstable
-He designed Akito as the hero based on Suzaku's tragedy being amplified by Geass
>>
>>13973814
Correction, I did notice a new issue on the second page for Leila's Alexander (not the same as the redone page). So I'll re-do that part too.
>>
>>13973825

>>
>>13973861
I will make the new thread in moments:

-Vercingetorix flight unit wing is very distorted, see pic, the picture below seems to be fine
-Leila's head detail has a small distortion this also affects the lineart below it, see pic
-Liberte: yeah the sword lineart, the the pictures below seem to be fine
-Red Ogre, 1st page has a distortion near the landspinner lineart, though the landspinner lineart and the profile lineart above seem fine somehow. 2nd page the judgment mkII lineart is distorted(see the barrel), the rest below seem fine
