Just finished Kakuranger. Easily the weakest of the few I've seen so far (From Jetman up). Cast never really grew on me like any of the previous did. Costumes were lame too. Good villains, at least, and better when they got rid of that terrible announcer.

Way WAY better ending than Dairanger though, holy fuck even thinking about it that is still so bad.

There's nothing "purist" about it. Sentai mechs aren't referred to as zords, plain and simple. They're just robots and have no special term. Zord is a specifically power rangers term, with the term originating from PR lore. So Sentai mechs simply aren't zords, unless they're being used in Power Rangers.

Kaku had a pretty bad ending too. It was rushed as fuck. They pushed that nigga behind a gate and all the Hanarangers just turned back into cats. That was it. They should have gotten tons of development. We know that despite being cats they have human personalities and even hobbies like weight lifting and swimming. It would have been great if the show went deep into them not wanting to turn back into cats and fearing that after every failure. Give a few of them romances with Saizou and Seikai since they were boring and you can save at least 7 characters that way.

i had an idea i wanted to bring up from an old thread,

it would be a three person sentai that has an RPG theme. they could raid dungeons, explore old crypts, fight dragons, find treasure, or just relax at the tavern. the evil forces could be some cursed mummy mumm-ra type of thing that sends classic RPG monsters at them.

red fighter => upgrade => red warrior (starts off with sword and shield, then gets a giant broadsword)
blue mage => upgrade => blue sorcerer (from a magic wand to a staff)
yellow strider => upgrade => yellow ranger (various daggers and bows)

the gimmick would be that two rangers could combine their powers kamen rider W style into one entity.

red+blue = purple mystic knight (hammer and shield, creates a ball of energy that shoots bolts of energy when struck)
red+yellow = orange assassin (master at combat and infiltration)
blue+yellow = green mystic archer (infuses arrows with magic)

the final form could be red+blue+yellow = white. kingdoms of amalur used the term "seeker" which sounds cool, but "white seeker" doesn't. universalist?

i just wanted to see if anyone else thought this was a neat idea. might sketch a few ideas out

i do like the idea of a corrupted black knight that turns good. due to his strong will, instead of purely blending with others, he acts as a black "base coat" that is then accented by the other colors, creating a darker, more savage version of the original.

black+red = barbarian
black+blue = shaman/warlock
black+yellow = pirate?

don't know what other colors could fit into this motif, though.

wanted to put pencil to paper before i went to bed.

bottom right - the starting point. medieval armor and clothes i recycled from an old project.

top right - transitioning those designs into possible helmets. mage would wear a talking wizard hat on top of his/her helmet like kamen rider skull. rogue wears a hood over his/hers like kamen rider ghost.

center - costume rough and possible helmets

top left - possible visor designs. wizard gets kamina glasses because it looks like a W, rogue gets a domino mask, fighter gets a strong wedge. eyes would be visible hologram like projections.

center and also left middle - logo and gimmick change. each ranger gets a unique image and when they combine a line is drawn down the middle, the fusion gets the combined logo. for the triple fusion it would be a triple logo. started from "what if the logo was that S everyone drew in elementary school?"

Perhaps we'll get an episode focusing on Yamato's struggle with fight or flight? He's the one who told the bus driver to step on it after all. As much as he feels connected to the earth and wants to protect its creature, deep down, he's afraid. His mind wants to fight, but his gut say to run. It would certainly be an interesting continuation on the show's focus on instincts.

Finally finished Gosieger. It was....okay.

It had some fantastic moments and episodes but at the same time had a lot of retarded writing and moments. Alata was a terrible fucking red and GoseiKnight had shit writing for half of his character. Rest of the cast was fine though, Moune a best.

The Shinkenger and Gosieger movie was fantastic just like all crossover movies I've seen. Although Gosieger returns was kinda dull, but not as bad as Shinkenger returns.
