I'd be happier with him coming back to Armored Core, myself.

I think it'd be a neat idea to have him to AC designs for a particular corporation, and get someone else to do another. Problem with that is if the styles are too different, we'd get something like fA, where several parts just plain don't look good on anything but their respective frames.

What's Kawamori opinion on Gundam franchise as a whole?

The owner of macrossworld site really hates Gundam (out of jealousy for the amount of merchandise Gundam has over Macross). He refused to believe that Kawamori likes (or at least respect) Gundam.
When pointed out that Kawamori worked on 0083, his retort was something like "I got paid for my job too, but that doesn't mean I love it"

He's a fan of it I think. He did have a 0079 fanclub in his college days. I don't know about his thoughts on the franchise as a whole but he did mention in that Forbes interview he wish he could simulcast Macross Delta like Sunrise does with their recent Gundam shows.

He fucking adores 0079. He's part of that Newtype generation along with Anno and Nagano. Not sure how he feels about the rest of the franchise, but the guy you're describing is pretty fucking dumb. Working on 0083 and getting to draw his own Gundam and White Base was a dream come true for him, just like it was for Mikimoto when he got to do character designs for 0080.

Didn't Anno do that Gundam fan movie for the animator project not so long ago? Sadly nothing new to see, it was more an academic thing about how great the animation was for 0079. I'd still like to see him seriously tackle a Gundam series sometime, but it'd have to be UC otherwise people would be clamouring for him to do something Eva-ish in theme.
