Basically this. I would just change some minor details:

Changeman was, by far, the best sentai with military theme. Flashman, on the other hand, had the second robot and more drama.

About Maskman, I like the theme and the mech fights (more hardcore). Unfortunately, the main focus on Takeo + Igan was a waste.

I really don't like the vibe of Bioman and Liveman, besides some good points, got a lower production.

Dynaman till the end was reallly shitty.

I don't like them. Toei RELLY tried to do some mech combinations during these 2 shows, but I didn't like it. But, to be honest and more fair, I think Goggle V and Dynaman are worst because they look like dated as hell... Sentais pre-Changeman has some weird character design, less explosions/effects and the clothes were awful in quality. This is visible even in a CRT TV.

It was shown exclusively at an American movie festival, and the subtitles made for that were uploaded to asiandvdclub recently. As a subtitle set they seem okay, although they tend to ignore soft spoken lines (can't blame them too much, it's a Fukuda movie and there's a ton of those) and the only glaring mistake a remember is the translator blowing a gag reference to 20th Century Boys, which won't really annoy you unless you know the basics of 20th Century Boys.

I think Junko feels comfortable working Arakawa which is good because it gives her time to take a breather and let her creative juices flow and make her story concise unlike most of the head writers these past few years who felt like they had to accomplish something by trying to write the whole show themselves. Also with Arakawa you know he won't disappoint since he's the more consistent toku writer and haven't been burnt out like some.

Nah, many time travel stories feature some concept that implies some events cant be changed, not only hitler. There's currently a new show called 221163 about a guy who wanted to prevent Kennedy's assasination, but the "past" goes out of its way to interrupt that.

It's mostly lazy writing or a dramatic excuse to not interfere with usual history. Of course, in Time Force's case is because the show was made before 9/11 and in Timeranger's case because they went to 2000.

Kageyama songs are really great: both instrumental and lyrics. This opening is a fine example: almost an 80's war song, hahah.

But the instrumental BGMs are great too: Earth Force, Base Shutter hasshin and Fight, Change Robot! were awesome, fit perfectly with the scenes.

It's not undetermined, only the movies and 3 episodes(inb4 2) are not subbed, and you dont need those.

The links in the OP list the subbed series, so you have no excuse for not knowing wether is subbed. the raws you can get with bunnyhat. the first episodes are in krdl and as for the scripts, you can ask for them here or go to lovexcare's page. All of this is easy to do if you're not a newfag.

I agree that it's not as easy as just looking them on nyaa and torrenting them, but it's not nearly as impossible as you make them seem to be.

Following up on this, should have it up as soon as this mexican ISP allows. Turns out they weren't hardsubbed after all, so it was pretty trivial to demux and mux back into a bluray rip one of our encoders made awhile ago.

I had to add some timing delay since it wasn't a perfect match, but alas the timing remains shit because industry timing standards and all that jazz. If you watch movies on theaters often, the blinks will probably not bother you as much!

That's not the point, anon. If the episode is not "mech-oriented", that really is the formula (1-2 attacks --> some finisher). However, old mechs (pre-GaoRanger) had 3 things not common nowadays:

1) they did a lot of acrobatics with wire-fu (same shit of Matrix) and, if necessary, they got bulk only to finish the enemy with a single blow. In general, the robots were more 'slim' than today. Now take a look at the robots of Ninninger...

2) Lots of practical effects (actor in the middle of real big fucking explosions) and no use of purpurine CGI.

3) old sentais got more "mech-fight-oriented-episodes". Take a fast look: maskman almost lost their robot for 3 episodes, flashman lost the battle and show mech gore, jetman got more than 6 episodes with 3 long fights, zyuranger lost 2 times, gogo v needed a 4th robot to win in the very end, megarangers needed to self-destruct the robot, changeman almost lost and went back to crush the little shits with NO REGRET. All of them got serious fights.

In general, I believe the sentais from 85 to 99 got the hardest battles. They also had more space and use in these shows.

That's the point.

I usually say both are good, but in each theme. If you like big cast with military + alien invasion, with focus in action, Changeman IS the sentai. On the other hand, if you like a smaller cast + alien kidnapping with focus in drama and some terror, Flashman IS the answer.

However, both shows are still in the very beginning. Things in Flashman will start to get REALLY hardcore only in ep.15/50. In the case of Changeman, only in ep.33/55. Need patience.

Going through Go-Buster, I find it very nice that the MotW fights and the giant robot fights happen at the same time and not in the "And now here's the part where he's a giant" way.
Currently on episode 33 and. Fuck that Gavan crossover. I can't stand that new Gavan's face and his eyebrows. At least I'm getting into the arc where Enter goes from nice to fucking good, right ?
