I am not, for these reasons:

a) It's a completely standard mecha show procedure for more robots and variations to be introduced as a popular property expands in various directions. See Gundam or Macross.

b) Considering the huge size, population and wealth of Britannia, not to mention the other nations, the original series actually had a relative deficit of models and variations.

c) The sheer success of the Lancelot in Area 11 is precisely what led to its direct influence on newer KMF models, from an in-universe perspective. Not only did the original series already confirm this, but several of the machines in Oz are supposed to be prototypes for the subsequent R2-era units.

Just watched OVA 5

Mecha action was 5/5 as expected. I can't wait for the BD rip. Plot gets about a 2 or 2.5/5. Some scenes worked really, really well and I felt the impact, while others fell flat and did overreach given the running time.

So I think the final episode gets a 3/5 from me, when you average out the highs and lows.

Its kinda hard to judge with RDs because the line doesn't seem to be doing all that well in general and their output is mostly executives nowadays. By all accounts Akito was a success but it seems odd how there's so little merch for it incomparison to R2 which was fortunate to get an RD for every other KMF to the point where some are hard to find. I would really just want to see another company give Code Geass a try, hell I'm still waiting for the Metal Build Albion which was announced years back.

-The Geass/R2/OZ/Akito RD line was cancelled, even with lots of prototypes shown
-The manga chapter/page count was never constant. Vol 5 for the 1st series ends with 23 chapters but 26 were published.
-86 pages for a single chapter never happened before but there were some 60-70 ones before
-O2 manga vol 1/2 were indeed rushed for OVA 3 release so they had to pad it with the CC short story.
-O2 manga vols have less pages because they removed the initial mecha/chara lineart section and the KMF explanation pages. Vol 1/2 have around 50 less pages but vol 3 and 4 go back to normal

Anna reverse engineered it from the Ahura Mazda key info on Schrotter Steel(my conjecture). The description from Akito for Schrotter Steel says it can retain Blaze Luminous but it was never clear to me if the Ahura Mazda actually had BL being generated by it and held by its armor or just the tough armor.

Land battleships are always a pretty cool concept. It was unfortunate they weren't really used in a proper battle during Akito, but I am glad they introduced them to the universe. Later works (or even SRW appearances) can always revisit them.

It even makes sense as part of the EU military design/philosophy that they'd prefer something like that, added to the Panzer Hummels and Gardmares, within their mainline forces instead of more Alexanders.

But the main characters are what's most important. Look to the original series for moral grey areas. The only strictly-evil character was VV, arguably. Smilas was one of the more interesting characters in Akito (at the beginning, at least). The argument against democracy in a war-torn society could have been a cool theme IMO but they just kind of threw him under the bus in the end.

Generally, I would say maybe there's more moral grey areas in the main characters of Oz than here.

Regarding Smilas, he needed an extra twenty minutes of screen time to really get the theme across. I would still watch an (unlikely) prequel PD about his earlier days.

I'd assume he was always meant to be responsible for lying about the political beliefs of Leila's father and implicitly for killing him too (plus lying about his daughter's death in part four), so the core of his pro-dictatorship argument couldn't be separated from the "decent man outside, rotten inside" model.
