The majority of 4kids edits is just to keep their digital artists busy throughout the year.
They don't really have to do this shit to the extent they do, but they can't just keep these dipshits working on a seasonal basis.

Nah, the new designs are too slick and Photoshoppy. The old art had a pen-and-ink comic book look to it, and the designs are all primal- all meat and filthy metal. Everything's got a ton of texture to it, even bare flesh.

Look at Angemon. He's an angel, but he's also all veiny and has bits of metal embedded in his skin. It's a look that gave the franchise a lot of its personality in the early days. Too bad it got toned down when Adventure started.
