Epyon, Ex-S and Asshimar look cool compared to the fucking Aegis. Apart from the baseline MS being hideous on its own in every respect, the two transformed MA models are even worse: a claw and some pointless "dart" mode that's completely useless.

While Aegis is the worst, Forbidden, Raider and the Gaia Dogdam are pretty ugly as well.

Claw mode is stupid, but I appreciate Aegis's dart mode for being something different from the usual "lie down and form a jet on top" that almost every other non-Zeta transforming MS uses. It just needed to do more with it: it never forms those beam sabers facing forward into a lance and just Waverider Crashes into shit, for instance. Put thrusters on the arms and legs so that it has all sorts of weird vectored thrust moves in MS mode and then they all face forward for maximum fast in MA mode. For fuck's sake, let it fire the cannon in MS mode. Rosso Aegis's binders give it a lot more flexibility as a design.

And I know why nobody else does Zeta's scheme, Zeta kits tend to explode. It's still almost always the same design, so I give major props to Aegis for doing something different.

besides that, its not really their thing, especially after chars counterattack when most suits fight in space only, where being having a plane transformation has no point

by the time fights start happening on earth or on heavy gravity again you have hathaways flash where xi and penelope use "miniature" minovsky flight crafts built into the suit and right after that you have crossbone and victory gundam flight systems that leave them in full flight the entire time they operate

tl;dr by late UC theres no point in transforming, but before that the zeta and delta looked just fine

It was late at night and was trying to remember all the ugly shit from SEED. Virtually all the mobile suits are hideous in that thing, especially the Gundams, and even more so for the transforming ones. Now I come to remember that each and every one of the "New Millennium" ZAFT Gundams had a transformation gimmick. Which is kinda weird, since ZAFT did not do any kind of transforming MS up until that point. It was exclusively an EA thing.

I really want to punch the idiot who thought it was a good idea to (retroactively) have the Impulse being able to transform into all the other Gundams from its production series. Look at this shit: it can't even transform into MA mode with the legs attached, so what's the point?
