A Geas or Geis or whatever is a thing in Celtic mythology, basically a suggestion that cannot be ignored. Only Lelouche's Geass follows that, the rest are just generic superpowers. Read up on Cu Cullain.

Because you see in those eye power threads normies post they talk about getting geass from code geass forgetting the fact that the power endowed will be like making a wish to the room in the zone(Stalker ) , you don't know what you will get since The room only grants your deepest desire in your sub-conscious . mind

Lelouch's power is actually called Geass, or geas, or geis, or however it's spelled in fairyrunes, you get the idea. Right down to the way it's cast (established eye contact). Calling all the other powers "Geass" was a huge mistake because it confuses the people already acquainted with geas through RPGs or Celtic mythology (which is fucking awesome, by the way). Keep in mind Fate aired the same year, and most people on /a/ at least read the wikipedia pages for the cast; CuChulainn's noteworthy achievements include killing his son because of a geas.

Anon, the only other instances of geas were either plot devices (newtype hax with Ko1) or used in conjunction with plot devices (foreshadowing with Mao, who had the easiest power to exploit outside of geas.
Lelouch's was the titular geas and it was basically the only one that's on the box. Normies who have never seen the show associate Lelouch's geas with the traditional Irish kind, even if they don't know about the origins.

In the end, it's all a matter of what works for a fictional context. It's only a "mistake" if you expect Code Geass (or any other anime for that matter) to be a literal slave to real life terms rather than simply take one of them as inspiration for its own supernatural power.
