What's your stance on GMs?

They're cool. There's a lot of really sweet designs and models for the GM, my personal favorite being the GM Custom from 0083. Plus they gave birth to the glorious Jegan.

But in all honesty, I like the Daggers from SEED more than the GMs.

As I got older, I actually ended up liking the MP suits/mechas (including GMs and Zakus) moreso than Gundams and other one-off prototypes.

Strike Daggers did better than GMs though.

The first episode the GM appears in MSG literally all it accomplishes is getting punched through by a Z'Gok and it does get any better until they made the third movie two years later. Then in Zeta GM II, GM Cannon, and GM Sniper Custom exist only to job as hard as possible.

Strike Dagger and Dagger L both had pretty successful debuts before getting run through the grunt meat grinder of decreasing relevance.

I have nothing against grunts, but I find GMs incredibly boring looking and no less toyetic than the Gundam designs they're typically based off of. The only GMs I really like is the Nemo and its variants.

I like that you felt you had to describe the concept of GMs to /m/.

Most puzzling thing about GMs is the lack of good armor where the pilots are. Cut costs sure, but keep the person inside alive.

People overestimate how big of a gap there is between like 0079 and even 0096. As long as you have beam weapons you are reasonably threatening depending on pilot.

Put a GM II Core Block in there so you can have the new cockpit and use the newer equivalent parts (eg. thruster rockets, main camera) from the contemporary GM parts bin and the Gundam is still a good mobile suit due to its design and construction. Moreso on the ground than in space maybe.

Eh, I can see what he means. 0079 designs look made to sell simple, big blocky toys rather than the model kits most of the franchise is famous for. They're the Duplo of mobile suits, basically.

I like that the grunt vs grunt fights in SEED because the Fed suits seem to move really awkwardly. You rarely see the Astray girls or Fed pilots actually slashing with their beam sabers. Instead they point it at the opposing MS and run until it hits something.

I think this actually gets one of the Astray girls killed by GUAIZ later.

Remove all the armor I can afford to remove,modify thrusters to make them more powerful at maybe the cost of fuel efficiency,if possible add more thrusters,get dual beam sabers on hips.Paint it red,stick a horn on the head,make the enemy really confused as I outmaneuver them and slash their faces off from impossible angles.
