Lockon = long-range, precision
Tieria = heavy weapons and the occasional berserk unit

What was Al/Hal's job? It can't be high speed since all Gundams are fast (in context faster than anything, even the Thrones)

Lockon's job also deteriorated in the movie since his Gundam is just a peashooter and bit shield carrier, Tieria could do his job way better

Lockon in the movie is not the same as Lockon in the first season if you remember. Lyle is more a gunfighter than sniper, unlike Neil.
Also, sniping enemies that came in swarm like ELS is just useless.
