I don't know, but my theory is that since the show suffered from low audience and was cancelled (even of we got a recap movie and a movie to give the show a proper ending), it wouldn't be profitable enough. Not to mention that mecha (apart from juggernauts like Gundam, Macross, Mazinger and Getter Robo) isn't exactly what sells the most today.
