Buddy Complex. It still fucking pisses me when I remember SHITTY Valvrave got more popular than Buddy Complex, and BC was cancelled and VVV which is complete trash, got a second season.

I'm not saying BC was perfect, but at least it was more traditional mecha anime than VVV which I don't even like remembering. The mere fact that VVV exists pisses me so fucking MUCH.

Then Cross Ange came. I was expecting some Super robot anime with political drama and stuff. Instead we got a lesbian anime.

Actually it is. You seem to be under the impression that the director is the one who has control in a televsion production, which is not really true. Like George Lucas said in RotJ's commentary about how the films were changing, in television the person with the ideas and creative control is the producer (which is what Fukuda's job was). The director's main job is to bring the producer's vision to life, and the writer's job is to make it overall coherent. Contrast this from film where the director calls the shots.
