Is there even such a thing as Shinji being to attached to Rei, when it comes to 3.0? Not even a Reifag, but everything that happened at the end of 2 was because he was trying to save her, and then he finds out he didn't even do that.

If they didn't want Shinji to seem too attached to Rei, maybe he shouldn't have spent every moment where he wasn't with Kowaru asking about her or following her around.

No, Anno and Studio Khara don't give a flying fuck about finishing Eva Rebuild anymore. As they say the proof is in the pudding. And 3.33 is a pudding of galactic shit. Those that hope for a 4.44 are in fucking deluded mode. Anno has had enough of Evangelion. Why do you think he's working on anything (Godzilla for now) except Evangelion ? If he ever goes back to stupid shinji and company he'll make a shittier film than 3.33 just to shut the otakus once and for all. Self hatred and miscommunication is early 90s era theme. And should have stayed there. 2.22 was actually a good new take on Evangelion. A pity they squandered it all in 3.33 by reverting shinji to the stupid self hating inactive teenager of the nineties.

A lot. Being monotematic, a one trick pony is never a good thing. Anno realised it, that's why the rebuild first 2 films thematically speaking diverge from the tv series. We have characters that have evolved substantially from how they were depicted almost a quarter of a century ago.
And then 3.33 happens. It's like Anno decided fuck it, I can't take anymore lets just retread the same old fucking memes of 25 years ago. That's gonna keep ANN and the like all giddy in trepidation. And after doing 3.33 he was so disgusted he went on to do other things. It doesn't bode well for him and 4.44 if it even sees the light of day.

Incidentally, the Jap pronunciation, while they have trouble with the "L" uses the hard G which would be much closer to the correct pronunciation of the Latin name.

Yeah, I can see the issue. "Asshole" misses the point that Asuka is looking down on him due to age.

It's KaWOru and it really shouldn't be three syllables.
Just a note, his name in Katakana カヲル uses an archaic spelling of the modern Kaoru(カオル) with a "wo" or "ヲ" in the middle instead of the just "o" katakana. Still, they're pronounced virtually identically.
The Kaworu romanization is stressed by Anno as retaining the reference to the spelling of Kaworu from the Tale of Genji.

Which basically not only makes the timeskip irrelevant, it also makes the whole "we (the eva pilots) can't grow up for some dumb mysterious reason while the rest of the world does" fly out the window.
