I'm glad that more futuristic racing games are being made, but it makes me sad that another WipEout game is very unlikely. The aesthetic, the music, the teams, the tracks, and the mechanical designs all clicked with me from the very first time I played one of the games.

Well Formula Fusion has Cold Storage on board for the music and Designers Republic on board for the aesthetics. It's not going to be identical but it's as good as you could ever hope for. As much as I love the Wipeout universe, they've pretty much covered it at this point, I'd like to see what they can do with a little freedom not being stuck with the Wipeout timeline and tech.

I'll miss AG-Systems, but I'll always keep them in my heart.

There's also a Super Famicom/SNES game that actually was released outside Japan, although under the title of "Cyber Spin" and heavily altered, with most of references to the anime removed, since it wasn't released in the West until almost a decade later. F-Zeros was pretty damn good, but you'd better believe I used Wip3out HDs ability to use custom soundtracks to fill it with F-Zero and XG music. I wish all racing games had that function

An Armored Core + F-Zero racing game is pretty much a dream come true but I never actually picked it up convincing myself there's now way it could live up to what I had in my head, how good it could be, especially since nobody ever talks about it

All three of them looks more like F-Zero machines to me. Plus, don't forget that Sega had a hand in making F-Zero AX/GX and Sonic X started airing in the same year AX/GX was released.
