I wouldn't say it made me feel "old as fuck" but that episode of Ninninger with the dream-stealer Yokai who makes Takaharu disregard becoming the Last Ninja. Then he proceeds to look for a job and the rest of them act like a part of him has died, then I realized that that is me now, I'm at the same stage of life as Takaharu now as opposed to Fuuka and Nagi at high school. I've been older than Rangers for three years now but this really hit me.

These have to be one of the best animal themed helmets there are. A big problem I find with animal themed helmets like Gaoranger and Go Ohnger is that I'm constanly looking at the animal eyes rather than the visor and it just looks terrible. The same happens here but other than blue these don't look goofy as fuck.

Go Ohnger really wasn't aestetically pleasing with the mechs or the suits or the weapons. I'd have to say the best thing that came out of it was RPM ripping it off all the time.

I've really liked how they've been using new color combos recently. I really hope that an effort is made to more normalize orange and violet. Maybe soon we can skip out on a yellow for an orange or a blue for a violet? I know color balance is a design issue and there will never not be a red, so I think options like those are doable.

Well that's Ohranger in the books and what a wild ride it was. I have no idea what to really even say about it, it was all over the place. Weapons and upgrades available without warning, Gunmajin showing up to be a giant Deus Ex Machina like 3 times, one of the best "Bad Monster wants to be a good guy" episodes..

The only thing I can say for certain is that Riki was completely wasted and I'm convinced now due to the recent revelation that Saban wanted more 6ths in the Sentai shows because of how popular Tommy was that KingRanger was a complete last minute addition. Then again, I remember Kou/KibaRanger being kinda like that too. They really just didn't know how to write 6ths until MegaSilver, did they?

In any case, it has its ups, it has its downs, it still has some of the best designs in Sentai with a pretty great team that all got time to shine except Riki and maybe Juri, kinda. The pluses are there but the minuses bring this down to a pretty middling series. Worth a watch, like any series, but completely baffling in many places. And I'm well aware of the circumstances that made the series so baffling. Even then it's hard to reconcile with the multitude of directions it was pulled in afterwards. 5/10.

Got a 14 year old brother whose only experience watching Sentai is Zyuranger and Kakuranger. Been trying to bring him out of PR but not sure what to marathon with him. As an Ultraman fan who just picks things up, would these be accurate guesses about the last 6 sentai shows?

Goseiger: Mech and humans look weird, but the story is good.
Gokaiger: Not good for someone who hasn't watched other sentai shows, good mechs and characters, great references.
Go-Busters: Great cast, okay mech, but pretty different feel from other shows.
Kyoryuger: Very main character heavy, sometimes to a detriment. Fun mech, fun cast.
ToQger: Very meh mech, really good enemies and cast, cute story.
Ninninger: Weird mech, hotblooded cast.
