Field Repair

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

Not to mention that Barbatos was already a knockoff Mortar Headd given the way its inner frame is designed and exposed, and now those high heels doesn't help it either. Maybe the final form will have L-Gaim Mk-II's head just so everything will come full circle.

I am generally okay with certain high heels, but this is taking it too far, and this is the most fucked version I have seen yet. The new reworked Gusion looks better imo, but I'm not digging those huge thrusters. The Grim Gerude? Looks pretty cool, and I'm digging those swords. The Freedom 2.0 looks okay but the rifle, shield, and chest are triggering me. This new blue Graze is the one I want. I have been waiting for one Graze that would eventually be my definitive Graze, and this is it.

Agreed, lots of lead Gundam designs have had heels in the past, but this is even more tall than Nobel's. It doesn't look good and doesn't fit with the show at all, so I have no idea what the hell they're even doing with the design.

Anyone here experience cracking on the wrists of their HG kits? Specifically the ones with wrists like the GN Archer/Clanche?

Anyone know how to remedy that? If I sand the ball joint on the hand, the hand'll become loose. If I don't, I assume the outward pressure caused by the ball wrist pushing out on the tightened polycap will crack the wrist.

It looks like the tip was completely redesigned while the black bottom portion turned into a latch. It might be for cooling, or it might be for increased articulation.

Either way it's a very ambitious redesign. Pretty surprising they're labeling this 2.0 instead of vRM, but I guess they missed the boat on that.

...And considering how much Hyaku Shiki 2.0 redesigned things, I guess the concept of 2.0 being more anime accurate is pretty much dead now.

Even the old MG Freedom was based off of BEECRAFT concept art. It just looks nothing like it because Bandai wasn't as good at capturing lineart back then.

That's mostly down to all five of them being in the same line, but there are pretty distinct differences between all of them but Strike and Duel. Blitz adds red details everywhere, a fold-out prong on the back of the foot, and has those weird movable thruster things on the side of its feet. Buster has much thicker armor (to the point of inhibiting articulation), and to account for the huge knee armor has entirely different parts there.

And even Strike and Duel, who are supposed to look nigh identical, change things up a bit. I'm pretty sure the MG Strike added in some new parts entirely for its knee armor?

Though if you're talking /proportions/, then yeah, sharing the X-SEED frame makes them all about the same.

The concept art for all of them was drawn up at the same time, and they are clearly supposed to be a single line. You could call them MG SEED, but there are already MG SEED kits and they don't look like this new line. You could call them "MG SEED HD Remaster" since that's what they're advertising anyways, and hey guess what that's pretty much vRM.

Incidentally, I wouldn't be surprised if Freedom 2.0 was drawn up back then too, and they just didn't get around to releasing it until now.

Some progress on my Lord Quanta.
Carved up some pla plate base for the sword and made the shield arm equippable.
Now figuring out how to mount the lance to the back.
At first I intended to use the original handle of the Sword Impulse's sword but shit broke on me, just gotta figure out how to attach the pla plate handle to the broken blade.
Also carved up some pla plate details on the front cover of the feet if you can make that out from the pic.
This shit is gonna take a while.

Tried to sand down the nubs as much as possible and did some panel lining and I gotta say it DOES bring out much more of the detail. The reason why there were no 1/100 G-Reco kits, let alone kits for the prominent suits in the series that actually could use a kit like the Hecate or Moran was because it was competing alongside kits from BFTry for production space. It's why only the early grunts like the Grimoire and the Caitsith got kits and only the final boss-tier suits like the Kabakali and G-Self perfect pack got kits in the end of the line.

Gray is good for white/light blues. Brown is good for warm colours. You'll probably want a black one for blues and darker colours as well as if you prefer the black line aesthetic on white instead of grey. It's much more sharp, obviously.

Didn't like how Nix Providence's back hardpoint was literally just a hole in the back so I built some detail around it with some layered styrene. The putty is just to make sure the surface of the leveled pieces is smooth and even and will be sanded tomorrow.
