Ten? That's kinda of a lot, I think. Most shows are barely passable and a lot of them follow the same tropes and arechtypes as the rest -- If you've seen one, you've seen them all. That is especially the case of the "serious" entries to the series like Zeta and 0079.

That said, I like the OVAs partially because they don't try to drag shit out to 50 episodes. I no particular order

It is. Might take you a few eps to really get into it, I think I needed three, but it's an incredibly fun ride once you're hooked. If you somehow don't end up liking it, make sure to at least hang around until the end of Ep 6. The big fight between the Zaku Amazing and Build Strike Full Package is one of the highlights of the series - I used it to get a friend to watch the series.

I've watched SEED and other Gundam shows. SEED is okay, but it falls for far too many of the same tropes and archetypes that we've seen in other Gundam shows and anime in general. The story telling just isn't original and would still be bad just because the characters are lame. They're cookie-cutter magnets for melodrama and their development is one-dimensional if they're developed at all.

Anyway that's just my opinion. If it happens to be the same as other peoples', it's not because I'm parroting them.

The Gundam franchise seems confusing, but it really isn't once you get into it. It's UC (the original stuff) and everything else. Watch the 0079 Movies first and foremost (they lay the ground work for every thing afterwards). If you like them, keep going in UC in production order, if not try one of the alternate universe ones with an interesting sounding plot, keep going until you find one you like. And by try, I don't mean look for reviews or ask /m/, I mean watch the first episode.

Um, I don't recommend that. It was supposed to be the end cap for the entire Gundam franchise, so it's highly recommended that you watch some of the previous stuff first. You can watch it first technically, but you'll be missing out on some of the deeper stuff. Do the 0079 movies.
