Your machine is reasonably tough, maneuverable, and well-armed for its size and origins; with some proper teamwork, the right tactics, and competent piloting on your part, you can survive. Your machine also has the bonus of not fucking exploding on you like Zeon's ball equivalent, the Oggo, which you will likely never encounter and which you could probably outpilot anyway due to its pilot being an actual child.

Just be thankful you didn't get a Public, or even worse, a fucking Zanny.

Oh yeah, I also forgot that depending on where you are and what time you're deployed at you could possibly just get thrown into a Ball Minelayer, close combat type (twin machine guns, no extra armor), K Type, etc.

You're a small, fast target with a gun well capable of seriously damaging any Zeon suit. Against late war Zeon pilots you're practically on even terms. If you're against experienced pilots, the solution isn't to panic, but to follow orders and work with your team.

The Ball can be called a last resort, but it isn't a suicide weapon. It's a numbers buffer, but that still means something. A little diddly is just that, but with the rest of your Mobile Pod team that's a whole lot of diddly. Kick some zeek ass.

I mean, how many Balls were on the frontlines? Seems to me most of them were in the back doing menial labor and shit. If you told me I was part of a forward assault in a Ball, yeah, I'm gonna try and book it to Moon Moon or something. But if I'm just loading missiles into a carrier somewhere relatively safe, w/e.

Frankly though I think I'd take the Ball. A Ball at least has a chance to take a hit or make a kill as well as run away properly, a Public has only a few defense weapons and even with its payload gone it'd maneuver badly and could legitimately die in one shot, unlike a Ball.

The biggest problem with K type being uparmoured is there is absolutely nothing about its design that allows for extra armour nor much of any reason to not build other Balls like that considering. It would have to be made out of fucking luna titanium otherwise heavy armoured Balls would have dominated the battlefield for their cost:performance ratio.
