I literally just watched Part 1. Overall, the changes were noticeable but minor. If that's true for the other two parts then it will be an excellent adaptation.

Its believable, because Childhoods End had such a major impact that I knew how it was going to end even though I had never seen or read it before myself.

It was stunningly original when it first came out, but has been ripped off and copied and reimagined so often since then that its offspring have made the original seen generic.
