They aren't mechs but oh well. I'd use these but have a system set up so that someone was actually controlling them, like a drone. I loved the design but the movie was pretty shit. They would need to be backed up by more conventional arms like VTOLs and AFVs but for the basic grunt work they would do. I'm of course thinking of a near future setting of our Earth, so the enemy tech would be similar or weaker depending on the country/group.

I would have to have something like this, except I would like the legs to tuck In and have treads.

These could be kitted with rockets, machine guns, shot guns. They could be used as anti armor, anti air, anti personnel.
With the treads, they could drive to the location, then unfold and maneuver through any terrain.
Very useful for terrestrial combat, and not super expensive to make.
